Bird Aeris 9 : anyone riding one?

Nope. Stopped tempting myself with getting a full sus.

I’ll take the added strength for sure. I have broken/cracked every full sus within 6 months since stepping up from 26” to 27/29”. Only exception being a Nukeproof Reactor which I might buy again if one shows up on PB. It does feel like a magic bike tbh. The geo is spot on and it takes the sting...

New Whip? New toys for the dependable steed?

Gary, having issues confirming the PCD for the STEPS ring. Retailers are not incl. this info. One retailer has a photo of the packaging, which includes the various teeth count and PCD, but the relevant PCD is not marked. I am looking for 96/64.

Picked it up 2nd hand but it’s the Reynolds version. It’s not the latest iteration, but I am very tempted to pick one up since I can’t get enough of the one I got. Also helps there is one locally for sale in my size.

Nukeproof make such rad frames. Thoughts on Steel v Alu? Been on a Stanton Switchback for the past couple of years and it just blows my noodle how good it feels, and it’s pretty much one of the main reasons I sold my full sus (aside from moving into my van next month and wanting lower...

New Whip? New toys for the dependable steed?

Bike looks sick HH. Not too keen on the white rims but I had White Halo rims about 20y ago, so who am I to judge. Great tire combo. I found this setup to be super fast on hard pack. The Dissector is fine up front when the dirt is more lose or muddy but the Aggressor is quickly overwhelmed...

    New Saint. Finally.

I didn’t even come close to a reasonable mileage value before my chain started slipping in the smallest sprockets (Shimano cassette). Sunrace installed last night and ready to go. I am stretching chains real fast at the moment and left the last change out to long. Putting down a lot of torque...

Videos (and pics) that don't suck

^^ epic trail and Eddy the Eagle was on an absolute belter. Totally caught Danny off guard. Some of the shit Eddy was pulling off. Need to get Jack Moir and Eddy together on a trail like this = Chaos. On a side note, the 2023 Vital Raw edit is sick. What the hell is going on with Loic and Finns...

    2024 racing thread

I couldn’t dig up anything to back up my post, but watched Bernard’s latest vlog and Danny was in it. He seemed to be playing camera man before I tuned out, and it definitely felt like there was some deliberate bike avoidance and smelt fishy to me. Bernard made a sly comment early in the vid...

    2024 racing thread

I swear I saw a pic of Danny H with a Propain a couple of weeks ago, but did a quick dig a few days ago and couldn’t find anything. Hope I wasn’t imagining it as the photo is still clear in my head. No one has posted anything so guessing I am imagining things. Isn’t Sam B on Crestline?

That’s really hectic news. The industry is in a right state. I have been trying to sell my Patrol since the beginning of the year, with no luck. Brand new carbon frame as a warranty replacement and listed at what should be a really good price, but still nothing. There is a threshold price where...

What bar are you running? Thinking of going the same route > more rise and less spacers. Currently running a 30mm Renthal but would also like to try a bar with a little less back sweep.

^^ so the same quality as their pedals. Sorry, still pissed off about purchasing their shitty Vaults. Slipping bars is next level though.

Bird Aeris 9 : anyone riding one?

Over the years the reviews of Bird bikes have been very good, in the UK, and any owner I have bumped into on the trails has been really pleased. Well thought out bikes with good geo and quality is up IMO. Warranty is transferable within the first 2 years, with some stipulations. I am still...

New Whip? New toys for the dependable steed?

I have only ever used Shimano brakes and the described method is what I follow between bleeds, which is typically done when changing out pads and cleaning the callipers etc. When the pads start wearing I find this adjustment is needed to keep the pads close to the rotor and give me the crisp...

    awwww shit. IT'S ON

Mental racing this year, even though the past couple of years have been epic. Even my wife is blown away when she watches the last riders come down. VDS is a beast of a track and makes for great viewing. I like the race format. It adds a new element and it wasn’t a complete flop, as a new...

    Non Lightweight Knee Pads

Yup. Had a pair for about a decade now and they won’t die, and I still cannot fault them. So comfy and don’t move during a ride. Ive used them for pedal days too. For knee only protection they are great.
