Had a Subaru Brat..........(yes, a Brat, and yes it was YEARS ago) it was a great cheap car/truck/whatever you call it. Always assumed a Subaru was still a safe bet. Now, recently the prices are going up, while the reliability is going down..
It's considerably more expensive to repair a DSG over a manual or 'traditional' automatic transmissions. It also has shorter service intervals. That being said, reliability is pretty much equal. As a matter of fact, in most VW tuning circles, it's widely known that the DSG can handle much...
Don't compare them to a 'traditional' automatic. The real advantage is that they shift almost instantly, accelerate faster, and get better mileage..............than a MANUAL transmission.
That sucks BAD! This stuff ALWAYS happens on race weekends. I think out-of-towners do it, knowing they won't be back 'till next year, and it gives the mountain (and Jersey) a bad name. I think I can speak for most of the locals when I say NONE of us would ever snatch another riders bike...
If you want to see some amazing trail maintenance (and FAST chair lifts, too!) just spend a weekend in lovely Roxbury, NY. They're still open this weekend, btw. :thumb:
Many things to say;
The weatherman fu*ked up the forecast royally this weekend, but I had a feeling that would happen.
Saturday was (honestly) pretty sh*tty riding conditions. Longer than the US Open lift lines, lots of leaves on the (everything but the main) trails, slippery conditions...
Very interested in this deal, but need more info:
When do you plan on opening/closing next season?
Ticket price, hours of operation, days open (just Sats like this year?)
SkiBlueMtn.com doesn't have much/any info.
Last weekend, the race went down the double chair side of the mountain.....and it was pretty mucky. The rest of the mountain was pretty nice. Leafy, but that's to be expected. I also know they got a little snow this weekend, but not too much. In the past, the last race of the season has...
As for the bears; Mama is always right there with her three cubs (a rarity, btw....as they usually always have two), and she'll be with them next year too, and they'll be a lot closer to grown up. It's her house, so give her and her family the space and respect they need/deserve. Black bears...
I think the rating system has a lot to do with when the trail was built.......here's two of the more obvious "single black diamond" examples:
When Triple Drop was built, we were on 5" travel bikes and those wooden bridges weren't there. Back then, the trail seemed/was much harder than it is...
Go down Upper Dominion.
Turn right either before OR after the "hip" jump.
If you go before, don't hit Covenant or Pipeline.....but either way, just keep going, and there's the roll in. Now, try doing a nose manual on it.
