This an 2018 Evol version? Those are notorious for having the negative chamber filled with slick honey. Like someone at Fox thought they were dipping a marshmellow on a stick into a vat of chocolate or something.
I'd recommend pulling apart and checking, mine was victim of this. Although...
FWIW, I contacted Maxxis a week or so ago to ask if they were going to release a DHR2 2.4 WT in the dual compound and double down casing, they said no plans...
Just more FYI, two more weights:
Fox SLS 450 x 2.75 - 362g
RCS Ti 450 x 2.75 - 363g
I had a Manitou spring on my DH rig at one point that was stupidly light compared to the normal steel and lighter than other ti springs I had access to. Wish I could find one of those in a 450 x 2.5 or 2.75.
No prob, glad to help.
Like I said, I was about 205 or so, and IIRC ran about 65 psi to get me around 25% sag. LSC I pretty much left alone, HSC I think I completely opened up, and I might have adjusted rebound two clicks. One blue spacer installed too.
I didn't ever use an orange...
I'll have to look up what the 2015 suggested starting points are, I think I have them out in my garage. The 2016 one they have up now doesn't look like the numbers are that familiar.
But I will say with that tune, you won't run anything close to the PSI that Fox suggests.
It felt fine, but I'm also about 200 or so geared up. But I did find I had to open up the compression settings a click or two from the Fox suggested starting points. (Where as with the newer normal tune, the stock settings were fairly bang on for me.)
Cannot remember if this was mentioned here or not (I know it was in the mtbr thread), and I'm not reading this whole thread again.
But I can confirm that these forks are early 2015's that the very first valving, if anyone's concerned.
The 2016's apparently had the rebound setup changed a bit to take the big fast hits better. See this pic over on MTBR...

Mine showed up today. It is def and OE model, it came with nothing but the fork (15mm axle) and the small piece that screws in and holds the brake line. No 20mm axle or spacers.
I haven't had time to pull the spring side apart and see if any spacers are in there, or what setting the fork is...
This is what Fox told me, that there were only two air springs, the 160mm and 180mm, and all the forks were based off these. The forks sold as 170mm were just 180's with a 10mm spacer installed, and the 140/150/etc forks were just 160's with "x" many spacers installed.
So I'm guessing these...
I hadn't seen this mentioned yet (although I read through this whole thread over a week ago, so apologies if it has), but the new M8000 XT brakes are not the same as the M785 versions, in terms of feel. From what I've read, the servo wave has been changed a bit to offer more modulation. I...
Wish I could read German, but this makes me think twice about installing the new Renthal Fatboy Carbons I have sitting on my workbench.
But Jesus those Syntace carbon bars that won the test are pricey - $229.
Interesting, I didn't realize the calipers where different. Looks like the Trail caliper are a solid one piece design, and the the Race are two piece, similar to XT's and whatnot.
Not sure if this will help, but in terms of levers, the Trails have the servo-wave, the Race don't. Also the Trails also have a knob for on the fly lever reach adjustment, and the Race you need a small allen to do it. The knob is convenient, but I've found this is more or less a set it and...
Random Bite Point Generator - good one. I think the cold temps affect Shimano brakes more than most realize. I think that's probably what was going on with my Saints when I started this posted ages ago. It was late fall and colder when both sets started acting up. All summer they'd been...
