just want to say i love this thread and hope to see more posts in it.
any recommendations for blogs/tumblrs with stuff like this? archdaily is the only site i know of (i have nothing to do with architects/architecture, but love the images)
Doing my research, it looks like my slack, early 2000's freeride hardtail is not drastically different from the current slack geometry trend. I was thinking I might want to go with a steeper head tube angle, but if there's one thing I love about my bike (67 degree HT angle/26" hardtail), it's...
that's great to hear. thanks for the reply
will do. local shop does the demo-towards-purchase thing, so i'd like to try a more XC frame and a trail frame. I have a late 90's bias against Specialized, but I'm hearing good things in 2014.
thanks for the info. those bikes are on the demo list.
sitting around last night, i was wondering if i could put together a titanium 29er hardtail with used frame/fork/wheels for similar money. Always wanted ti hardtail...wondering if that would be a good option compared to an aluminum full...

still riding my 2002-ish Cove Stiffee FR 26" hardtail w/Marz Z1. I've replaced parts over the years: Easton Havoc wheels, SLX cranks, etc.
I'm probably about a year out from a new bike purchase, but am just starting the research phase. Pretty overwhelming with all the new choices...
I do and I appreciate that. I had to get it overnighted from Amazon (only 3 bucks extra). bike needs to be ready to roll when I go to bed tomorrow night.
yes, i still have an old 3-ring front derailleur on there. i need to re-adjust both front and rear for this ride anyways. just not sure if i need different ringbolts
no race, just a casual ride with some friends over a few days. honestly, i have no desire to do it....especially as I'll be dusted on my 26er the whole time. hoping a big ring will at least give me another gear
Hopefully not too stupid a question...just in a bit of a hurry and don't want to order the wrong parts.
If I want to get rid of my 4-hole SLX bashguard and throw on a big ring for a 3 day cross country ride, do I need anything other than just the ring?
I could use some new riding clothes. I look like such a goober suited up.
I can't find a helmet for the life of me that fits my head. I have a huge head and need to wear deep crown hats. All helmets sit on top of my head instead of around my head.
I always assumed the big advantage to hydros was that you don't have to squeeze so hard to brake. Seems like it would give you more control. I have no problem with the BB7's stopping power. I've never thought "I wish these were stronger"
