New Whip? New toys for the dependable steed?

If you can find something with 30+ rise and less backsweep than a Renthal let me know. I've been looking for years.

Talk to me about affordable DJ forks

The Circus at 100 mm travel is 2 mm shorter than a Pike DJ and about 10 mm shorter than the Ohlins or Helm at 90 mm.

Yeah, where's that nope gif you were using for bears? You know what would solve that problem? A dual crown.

New Whip? New toys for the dependable steed?

A couple of friends of mine were on a night ride and came across a deer that was down in the middle of the trail, bit on the neck and bleeding out but not dead yet. They didn't see the mountain lion but it had to have been right there. I'm glad I missed that one.

    Forbidden Dreadnought...what y'all think?

To be clear, that's me. That one was a few years ago, but I only really remember Jordi saying he doesn't like trail bikes as slack as the Nicolai that I was riding at the time. I don't think we even talked about my approach to suspension setup at all, I just asked questions about his.

    Forbidden Dreadnought...what y'all think?

I think I ended up with elbows extra tucked on that bike in part because of the mid-corner rearward weight shifts I had to do as the suspension loaded up - they were easier to time right that way somehow. I don't go full condor like Lee but I don't normally look like that photo you grabbed either.

Fox fork damper and airshaft threads

IIRC they're M8x1.0 and M10x1.0. [Edit: sniped by RWMC.] Check the thread pitch against a standard M6 bolt, it should mesh nicely.

    Random Picture Thread

When I was probably 5 or 6 my dad took me to his job site one weekend to pick up some tools for a project at home or something. The house he was working on at the time was on a 2 lane rural road, probably about a 50 mph speed limit. I was playing in the front yard and a turkey walked through. I...

Why Aren't There Better Shock Pumps?

It's got a braided stainless steel wrap on the hose, but the fittings and pump body itself are standard. It's mostly just a longer stroke/smaller bore version of the same thing as everybody else.

New Whip? New toys for the dependable steed?

There's a big difference between caring what other people want to run and thinking that other people choosing to run something makes it good. Knock yourself out, is what I'm saying. Which you probably will if you actually find a pair of those stupid things. :D

I'll file that one right alongside the flawless consistency of Shimano brakes. Same logic holds there.

New Whip? New toys for the dependable steed?

Not the main point, but the alignment between the two halves of the mold on those is sweet. Schwalbe does that a lot, too. Yep. It's not that Marys don't work — there are a lot of worse tires out there. And Schwalbe's rubber compounds and casings are pretty good. But those side knobs would...

Pictures of you riding a mountain bike (Any wheelsize and type of MTB allowed)

Yeah, I've broken plenty of wheels in other ways, but I haven't tacoed one in forever. Carbon wheels have gotten a lot better, and I've overall had a better track record with them durability-wise than aluminum ones in recent years, but everything still breaks if you hit it hard enough.
