the fat tire crew is solid. also check out camas bike and sport if you are out that way. If you are closer to Salem the Santiam guys are also really good.
was out there on Thursday and adam(?) from the BLM was out plowing the road (about 4 inches at the top), shoveling off the first couple of switchbacks, and removing downed trees. Should be a rockin course for tomorrow. the stream crossing will be dicey for sure though.
sandy ridge and syncline are your best bet in the portland area. both are public knowledge and a google search will get you all the goods.
For Bend most everything is under snow right now. There are some trails up in Redmond, OR (Cline Butte I think) that should be rideable though.
i'd be impressed if anybody but a pro roadie could get up the road in 15 minutes. it is about a 30-45 minute pedal depending on bike/fitness, about the same intensity as galby. plan on giving yourself plenty of time if you want to take a practice run.
here's a quick map. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=45.545793,-122.649994&spn=0.121183,0.301781&t=h&z=12&msid=215887886708751490625.0004997622cc64eeb8865
I know most about NoPo but I hear good things about the sellwood area as well. Don't live in Beaverton, it sucks...
sellwood cycles has good guys, not much in the way of DJ stuff though. Fat Tire Farm is really where it's at for big bike stuff. The crew at the hollywood Bike Gallery is pretty rad too.
In addition to what toowacky said: There are some great shuttles off of Timberline lodge at Mt. Hood already (about an hr out of town) where the fluidride super d race was held. lots of vert over about 8 or 9 miles. Also check out the Sandy Ridge Trail system. They have one pretty sweet trail...
Come out to the Stub Stewart Build day this Saturday and help build the Duthie Hill of the Portland area. Two work party times, one at 9:00 for the early risers and one at 12:20 if you want to sleep in. Bring your bike and check out the newly opened MTB only area after we get done rocking out...
so i just thought i'd threadjack here for a minute since there are too many duthie threads already. I was just curious if there are plans for a trials area at duthie?
