To anyone interested, the fix for this was simple--head over to Bklyn and pay Joe some $ for the rings.
Turns out he laser cuts them to spec, so it's not likely there are other rings out there that will fit.
I did bring up the profile spindle & splined rings idea; while it would technically...
I hear you, but altogether it's a higher price than i'm willing to pay for a backup fork.
Cool idea though, if you end up doing it i'd be very interested in how much you paid for it and how it works compared to stock etc. Definitely not going to give up the shiver, but seeing what you've done...
updating with a few links to parts that look like they'll work, but i'm not sure:

Still looking, but i'm open to any...
So i'm breaking down the racelink for servicing over the winter, and one of the chainrings for the jackshaft is in dire need or replacing.
The problem is that I don't really feel like heading over to 16 Powers st to see if Joe has any leftover, so I was wondering if any other racelink owners...
qq---i tried looking for "forum rules" post, faq etc about cross-posting, but didn't find anything.
Is this not allowed, or is it OK if relevant?
i.e. i'm looking for other bmw racelink owners advice about a specific part, i was thinking it would make sense to x-post in the shop and downhill...
Will this even work?
I'll be getting the avy cart for my 888 soon, I guess i could drop it in my old shiver to see.
man, that shiver would be the greatest fork ever with the avy dd cart. eff man, i'm drooling just thinking of that butter...
also, because of you and your insanely awesome...
Since it's all sealed bearings...you can replace them on the bottom bracket cups but not the ones on the swingarm (nearly impossible to remove on your own).
Other than that, just clean everything well, dry it and re-grease the axles.
There are no grease ports on RL, everything is in sealed...
Fedex isn't much better, at least they leave messages on your door (without ringing the doorbell, but that's besides the point).
Had a wheel built and overnighted for the weekend at an additional fee of ~$90 total.
On truck for delivery today by 3PM (had it shipped to a business just to be...
Long story short - have some patience. They're still around; just have a lot going on at the moment.
The phone/email thing is not as ominous as you may think either.
To the OP--PM is sent.
****, am i the only one on this thread that's cool enough to live in the city?
it sounds i just volunteered to go to bklyn...
i'll see i if can get over this week and reply then.
If everyone is so concerned, why doesn't someone just go to the shop and knock on the door?
Not until monday obviously, but it's not a hard place to find--L train to lorimer then walk a few blocks. off topic, but Indian larry's shop is around the corner, they're some awesome guys to bull****...
Thanks for the replies...
I'm not really concerned about weight; i'd rather just have the right fork for me.
Boxxers are nice, I just don't like how they feel.
JonKranked---100% coil for me, i had a 888 ATA for a few months that I absolutely hated. Loved all the adjustments and the weight...
I've been rocking out a 2002 shiver since I started riding DH (2 in all, i stupidly sold the first one).
The fork was having some major issues towards the end of last year and I don't want to get rid of it, but at this point i'm thinking about getting a new fork.
The only one that has the...
the first thing that will go wrong is porting to java...
64 v 32---you really won't notice that many differences except for the placement of libraries, and slightly faster execution times.
just be sure that any code that is 64 bit compatible is installed instead of the 32-bit versions, but...
if it's crashing...it probably doesn't like the drm.
a few more options you can try are redux encoder & film redux.
both are based on the source of the awesome visualhub project, which itself uses mencoder and ffmpeg.
you can also try a stream copy with mencoder, but again---that drm...
it won't let you load drm'd media.....but there are some apps that you can use to get around that.
one i use for dvd's that have that stupid drm is called fairmount (_http://www.metakine.com/products/fairmount/)
if it's digitally encrypted, you can try vlc to do a streaming encode.
failing...
