Please help identify Fox 40DH spring (photo)

I sent the same photo of the spring that I posted on this thread soon after I posted this thread, and got a response back a bit ago. Official word from fox is that this is a "blue" spring, so you guys were right. Thanks for all the help. If anyone has a Green ti spring they'd like to sell...

Please help identify Fox 40DH spring (photo)

Thanks Transcend. do you know if it was only the "blue" spring that was made in this silver color, or other springs were made in this color with different weights and different marker lines?

Please help identify Fox 40DH spring (photo)

I've taken some better photos but my photo site is down for the moment so I'll post them up later. There are no markings at all on the spring that I can find. It doesn't even look like it was marked with paint and some of it wore off. I did notice that the silver surface is actually a...

Fox 36 or Totem on an SX Trail

If you do lots of technical climbing the TALAS may be worthwhile to put your weight more over the front wheel when climbing. Of course you have to be willing to stop and adjust it, so if you're going up down up down etc. you'd probably just leave it. Personally, I would go with the van for...

Please help identify Fox 40DH spring (photo)

OK, here's the whole story. My sag is reasonable, 1 inch if I get on the bike super lightly, 1.75" if I kind of hop on (but don't bounce). In either case, the o-ring is against the seal when I'm sitting static. I'm 172lb with no gear. Fox recommends 1.2-2.0 on the 8" setting, so in any case...

Please help identify Fox 40DH spring (photo)

hmmm... ok maybe it's the $1 question. By the way IH8Rice, why do you say the go-ride springs a waste of money? Don't they make the rate more progressive? My current unknown springs have good small bump compliance but I bottom too easily so those were looking good (albeit expensive). Now...

Please help identify Fox 40DH spring (photo)

I looked up the '05 manual online and it lists the same color and rate table, so that's a red herring. In any case, the $10,000 question is: What is the spring rate of the fox 40 unpainted ti spring?

Please help identify Fox 40DH spring (photo)

The below text is from the 06 40 manual, so they must have been using colors by then. Maybe this is from 05??? I just found the below picture on an old forsale thread, I guess the color is pretty obvious for the springs that are color coded! Mine isn't painted, it's raw Ti. COIL SPRING...

Please help identify Fox 40DH spring (photo)

Picture attached. This is out of an 07 40 but I bought it used. The shrink tube in the middle seems to be black? The spring is definitely Ti. And yes, that is the new 2009 Saint Dishwasher and 2010 Prototype Deity Tile. Thanks in advance!

    Hub, 12mm 150mm

I have 3 different hangers for my Glory, do you? the one the maxle uses is threaded, but I also have one that isn't but the axle hole is closed, and one that looks more like it's for an XC bike (open dropout), except it's still steel. I don't really know what that one is for. Anyway maybe the...

    06 Kona & Zocchi

I had one of those. Pretty groovy, mine was orange. not a very light frame (4130 prob.), but good around town bike. I went right back to my fixed gear 700c, and sold it.

    --Wednesday's Ride Thread--

I "tore it up" last night @Apex. Very nice ride that I haven't done in years, up through enchanted forest, then down around the other loop with the view of town. timed it just right so there were very few on the trail for my downhill, and I had just enough light to get through. :thumb: Only...

    Thinking about a commuter bike

I have 3 words for you: FIXED FRICKIN GEAR. Been riding mine for 7 years now. very reliable and not very attractive to thieves. Mine's even Reynolds 853 with a king headset and phil hubs and it never gets a second look. I've heard of couriers never locking their track bikes, and just...

    biggest dent in a while

Oh, that was low! :D This frame is probably 97 or 98 or something, so if it came misaligned from the factory, it has been so for a very long time. I suppose I could have a LBS check the frame alignment since I don't have the tools. Anyway, it shifts at least as well and nothing is even...

    biggest dent in a while

Thanks, fellas. I guess the question is really whether I am willing (am scared enough) to pay $250 for a new one. I'm thinking a bit about getting a new frame anyway. The rest of the frame doesn't have major dents, but it has a ton of hard miles on it. I'm riding tonight so we'll see if the...

    Firefly Casting

Talk to me. :D I'm in the market for a new fork, and have had manitou in the past and been pretty satisfied. problem is, my current fork is a 5 or 6" '99 X-Vert Carbon downhill fork that I use for trail riding. it's a double crown and only 5.2 pounds (weighed on a reliable scale), very...

    Meet the Hammerhead 125

Charles, thank you. I have been thinking about wheelbase and head angle and you have helped my thoughts along. Geometry is an underestimated quantity, particularly in the MTB realm.

    biggest dent in a while

Think so? I mean, at least it's not a hardtail. here's a wider angle attached (click). Thanks for your input. edit: nothing against hardtails; I just imagine the seatstays have it tougher on a hard tail than they do on a suspended bike.
