Help a 'Novice' in choosing a bike from 3 short listed one :)

For an entry level bike, all brands are basically the same. The only real differences will be minor, such as brand A will have a nicer rear dérailleur, and brand B will have a slightly better frame, etc. it's not until you get into higher end bikes that real differences start to become apparent...

Help a 'Novice' in choosing a bike from 3 short listed one :)

Go to a local bike shop, or preferably several shops. Have them get your fit right, and let the experts listen to what you're going to do on the bike and they will have suggestions. You listed low end mountain bikes, but not what type of riding you will do. I assume that riding with your...

Which is the better bicycle? A new Schwinn Midmoor or a 2007 KHS TC 150?

You are not going to want a $200 comfort bike for 20-30 miles per day riding. Comfort bikes are great for 2 or 3 miles, but the inefficient upright position is far from ideal for longer rides. Also, the components on a cheap department store bike will wear out very quickly and be far heavier...

trek liquid 10 - Good purchase??

Agree with this. You'll need to visit a shop to buy a pump anyway, it's worth a few bucks to have them show you how to use it and give you an initial setup of both air pressure and your shocks adjustments. Ditto for your front fork.

trek liquid 10 - Good purchase??

have you set up the shock with the proper air pressure? if you're bottoming out on every hit, chances are you have too little air in the shock. purchase a shock pump, set the bike up for about 25% sag, and you should fix the bottoming issue.

Early AM rides, harder on the system?

You'll perform worse, which explains why you feel ****ty later- you have to push harder for the same performance, but you burn more fat. http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2010-06-04-eating-exercise_N.htm

noobie at mountain bikes needs help choosing a first bike

Don't buy either of those bikes. They are very poor quality, and since they are from Internet retailers, you will receive no support. Go immediately to a few local independent bike shops and talk to the guys working there. For a budget of around $500 you can get on a basic hardtail, a full...

Need help finding an odd sized shock

I'd really prefer not to go down that road, the bike already has a relatively low bb and slack head angle (68*) and 5" travel, dropping 3/4" from the bb and travel and slackening out the head angle by almost a degree will make the bike ride poorly for a trailbike. I would make the switch if this...

Need help finding an odd sized shock

Thanks for the info! I'd prefer to get something else, as this shock only has lockout, no other adjustments, and it's damping leaves something to be desired compared to the foxes I've ridden. I'll contact them and see what they can do about a rebuild.

Need help finding an odd sized shock

Fellow monkey needs your help- the 6.75x1.75 rockshox Sid shock on my old Norco vps fluid has sh!t the bed, and parts are no longer made to rebuild it. I've tried contacting Norco with no luck, and 6 weeks of scouring manufacturers sites, eBay, pb, RM, and other classifieds have turned up...

Any alternatives? Or is this the right bike for me?

The pitch is a great bike, based mostly on the last gen enduro, of which I am an owner. The bike is a great do it all machine. The pitch is a bit heavy, but you can fix that over time and upgrade as stuff wears out and breaks. As mentioned above, used is a good idea as well if you know how to...

    Sell me on Honda Civics

I have owned 7 Honda civics and Acura integras and have over 350,000 miles in them. If you buy the right one- preferably from the original owner, or at least from someone who has owned the car for a long time you can get a fantastic, if not boring car. I prefer the integra, the seats are nicer...

Hardtail frame with horizontal dropouts and derailleur hanger

That's fine. The derailleur will pick up the slack and the short stays will give the best handling.
