I blame Obama and his socialist ways.
What bugs me is that they acquitted him of ALL charges. He did flee the scene where someone died. He did tamper with evidence.
Personally, I think they should have gotten him for ms as well, but hey. I wonder what the jury selection process was like.
Do you bike or skateboard in your free time? Out.
Have you, a friend, or family member been the victim of a hit and run accident? Out.
Do you support the town spending money on bike lanes? Out.
Do you ride a motorcycle? Out.
Do you have children? Out.

I *guarantee* you that this was the case....

One more thing.
My experience in Buffalo is that there is a drinking culture, which naturally means there is a drinking and driving culture.
I noticed when I posted this story on Facebook, several of my Buffalo friends failed to respond. The ones who I have driven to bars with.
I can't act like a saint. I have had drinks and driven before, but to no harm to anyone. But it is a rare thing, and I avoid doing it because of this kind of circumstance.
I know if I had 3 or 4 beers, I could navigate home without much problem. But what if there is an emergency situation? Like a kid riding her skateboard where she shouldn't be? Would I be aware enough to see her? Able enough to avoid her?

Want to get really upset. Look up Hopkins Rd in Williamsville NY and look how wide the road is and how there are Bike Lanes on both side of the road.

I've commuted for years.
Lately, the drivers here in Phoenix seem to be extra insane...so I haven't ridden my bike to work in quite a while.
I seriously wonder if it is worth it now...which really upsets me. I enjoy riding to work, but I just have that feeling that some texting drunken idiot is going to turn me into a hood ornament.
(some backstory: I've been hit twice already - once just knocked over, no injury. The last time, pickup got me, broken tib/fib and a permanent rod in my leg)
So...car bound for me...until I get out of this city.
In regards to this story - sickening. But sadly, not too surprising. Apparently not in a car = deserved it. Sad and disgusting.

As someone who spent much of their life in the Buffalo area, this story really pisses me off. What kind of asshole jurors would not find this guy guilty of something relating to the girl's death? Yet they find him guilty of DUI, as if that is somehow not related to to the accident. Fvck them.

Totally agree with both points.

I don't mean to be a jerk and I in no way think Justice is served. But everyday, sometimes more, bad stuff happens to Good folks in Buffalo NY. It is a pretty bleak place. But honestly Buffalo has bigger problems then some scumbag doctor. I guess the rumor is he moved to Florida protect himself from all the civil lawsuits filed against him...

So I'm not the only one in the valley who sees the extra dose of insanity behind the wheel lately? I've been frightened just getting behind the wheel, let alone pedaling in it. Over the last 6 months I have driven through 2 high speed accidents on the 101.
My commute to work:
'12 Giant Glory * '10 Specialized Pitch Pro * 70's Guerciotti
