Speed vs Lift for Distance ... HELP

I am old an just decided I need to get adequate jumping skills. Normally to clear doubles and **** I just pedal harder. And although I clear most of them ... I never really get any height so I know its been asked a million times but what is the best way to get lift? I cant bunny hop for **** which I assume would be helpful ...

Links or Articles would be helpful.

    Thx

pulling up as you leave the lip will increase your jump distance, pulling back will increase your jump height...

yes, definitely. pulling back -->going higher. good bunnyhop skills will definitely get you higher off a flat-ish jump (or like a flat-bank ditch)... but for true high boosting, there's a feet-boost element as well... check out this:

I have been working on this for a while now, as our local spot needs to be roasted a bit for some things to work, at least that is the only way I can get some sets to work... but watching our crew ride, and others passing through, I have been focusing on two main adjustments to my technique: pop with legs (crouch and spring and push legs out off of lip to over emphasize), and pulling the bars to my crotch (mentally keeping the in-air location of the bars in my lap sort of helps me always pull back more and never end up all chested over the bars, plus everyone says pull 'back' or 'up' but with popping off your legs, I sometimes feel like you are pulling the bars 'down' into your lap as your legs are pushing the bike out underneath you.....

this has been helping me, it totally changed my riding last year, and everyone noticed the change instantly (and as a positive one). here is a linky to a visualization. maybe not the most stylish looking in the pic, but it should illustrate the mental and physical method I am employing to get the roast, and then once you can just come off the lip nice like this, then you can relax in the air and do whatever.
