The guy responsible for running this race (on the website) created the name along with the original RR team... so why not?
Team Crash or Win... We prefer the later.

Hey just move to PA from Colorado and I am new to the races here but 80.00 is about the average I have paid to enter a lift assited race, so I am not too upset with that, but been doing some research and one thing I don't like is that there is no USA Cycling sanctioning, no prize list, no cash payout listed.....the two other series I have found is the Eastern States cup, and the Gravity East Series. The Gravity East I have heard about the Eastern States Cup I recently found.
Both of their sites have payouts, sponsors listed etc. I just think I will skip this one due to no USAC points. I do think the Duryea site looks slicker than the two other series sites. Maybe they are still working on that stuff, not sure, but it looks like a cool urban style race.
By the way also just learned about this forum, and this place is very cool!

it does says prizes are TBA but the $80 is the highest of all the races here in the east except for the now defunct $90/100 US Open entry fee.

Ok here is the scoop on the Duryea Downhill. Like in the past this race is being put on by local riders. Renting the moving trucks does require a bit of fuel for both day. Any prizes or possible pro purse have not been determined like the web page and bikereg curently says. There is going to be a BIG road gap and a few other items for those of you looking for a repeat stlye from the past races. Besides that just stay tuned to the fb, web site, vitalmtb, & here for up coming days to come ride.

the guys up there just finished the road gap

I saw a few videos on FB of the road gap from the side, that made it look a lot scarier than the POV. In reality I've done a few jumps that size but the idea of lauching myself into a guardrail makes the jump a lot more menacing.

The vids show a platform that sticks out about a full lane into the road. Is that not going to be there for the race?
With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil—that takes religion.

I hate to event admit this but, I've never even hit the bunker jump. I know its not big at all, and I have hit stuff bigger, but its just one of those things. Any thought of a guardrail in or near a landing terrifies me. After two years with no DH I'm still mentally sketched out by jumping anything even moderately large. I'm good with everything else but I have a lot of ground to make back up in the next two weeks as far as jumping goes.

Well now I don't feel so bad, I've never hit bunker either. Just one of those things.
You've definitely got the skill for it, just have to turn your brain off. That's something I can rarely ever do.
