    Montreal Shop?

    Hey,

    For any Montreallers out there:

Where are some shops that sell downhill stuff (bikes and armour?)

I'm getting a bike and will need somewhere to pick up parts and things.

    Thanks,

    -Chris

A few shops that carry DH stuff, Martin Swiss, ABC Cycles, Zone ZHP " Laval" , what part of town are you in and what exactly are you looking for.

Also might want to look at getting some used equipment, Montreal has a very extensive network of internet sites where DH equipment is bought and sold and there some great bargains to be had this time of year. Check out the following sites, DHR Racer & Eastside Freeride.

I'll check those out when I get the chance. Thanks!

I'm looking for body armor at the moment. I found a great deal on the internet (ebay), but I'm mainly looking to try stuff on for sizing.

I'm not even all that sure what I want. It sure is nice to get all bundled up in bombproof armor, but then I remember that day at Bromont when the fuid in my eyeballs was reaching the boiling point.

That Mace stuff I rented on Saturday would have been WAY too hot in the summer for sure.

ask those who have bought the armors i'm selling otherwise...why not? im not living from it so...if i was be sure i would not be on lycos and it would look...different?

http://www.highvelocitygear.com/ there then...1/3 of the price of a dainese and way better quality/price ratio. protects even more

Protects more? It is the same identical plastics as the 2005 dainese, and then they use crappy spandex/lycra instead of a nice cool mesh that doesn't stretch and tear. They also have a non adjustable kidney belt, and very thin padding under the plastic.

There is a reason it is cheaper, i have actually handled the velocity stuff. I'm not talking out of my ass. The quality of build simply isn't there.

yes the belt is ajustable and yes it protects more, see http://www.highvelocitygear.com/menupages/products.html

i agree about the mesh on the dainese is cooler and look better but lycra does the job and no one who has them complaint about it. i seen all the models of HVG and the padding never was that thin.

yes its cheaper but when your on a budget, it waayyyyy better than anything else.

btw, could you reply my pm please:$?

Oh i just saw the PM now actually, use the swingarm and a rubber mallet. Exact opposite of how they came off.

Also, the belt is adjustable, only not the way the dainese is (ie: angle, height, length etc).

Like I said, it's basically a budget version of the Dainese stuff, but in this market, you get what you pay for. My dainese has lasted 5 years now (white mesh with white plastics). I fall down. A lot. That says a lot about the quality of the product.

Dainese used to use the lycra type material that velocity uses, and got away from it for a few reasons. Not the least of which was that it tears very easily at the stitching, and is HOT. (A primary concern for da peach, and the stuff he had on was the same type of material as the velocity stuff).

I'm not bashing that stuff, for someone on a tight budget it would work, but it simply doesn't fit what he is looking for.
