I can't help thinking that the movie and recording industries are going about this the wrong way. Stopping file sharing is an excercise in futility worthy of King Canute. They should be devoting their time and energy to working out ways to make a bob from this phenomenom.

did anyone read the letter the MPAA sent to the swedish gov't prior to this? It basically said "shame on you for not doing anything. Please listen to us and take action!"

oh and the RIAA is now also suing YouTube users if they have copyrighted music in the background of a video.

Why should they?

The US threatened economic sanctions against Sweden unless they did something...massive protests, resurgence of the site, etc etc...

Then again, why would the people who run the news media here (who also happen to run the RIAA and the MPAA), want to tell you that?
