Pre-opening Highland Pictures

From BustedSpoke:

The answer to your first question is NO. Highlands is not open yet don't ask, we will let you know. Comment on how pretty we look or something.

There is a possible tentative opening date of July 1st if everything goes well as the owner has planned.

We got up there early Sat morning and worked our asses off on the jump line named "any style" to revamp after all the rain. Onto the pics.

Brapplejuice

The drop at the top of "Any Style", with re-worked transition:

The first of many berms:

The BIG berm. This starts off with a lip onto a downhill landing, into this MASSIVE berm, you exit going approximately 100mph into a big big big smooth hip jump, following a 4 pack of 25' tabletops.

Simply amazing, definetly worth the trip up. The first day will be very hectic, but after that things will run very smoothly. They have a great bike carrying system to get riders up the mountain. They've only got 3 trails now, but currently have 2-3 more in the works as the season progresses.

no this is the type of thing that really disgusts me, this small mountain putting up trails that have whistler quaility written all over them.

and blue mountain up here who is pretty tightly connected with whistler and intrawest has some of the worst and most poorly thought out trails around with little to no trail work and expertise from "REAL" riders, poorly built wood work hazards in the trail improper drainage killing the flow of trails on purpose by adding 90deg corners just cause they dont want people to go fast.

sorry for the vent but..........
trails are looking reallly good and im jelous

That's the great thing about this place. They have a small group of dedicated builders who are also excellent riders. They bring in people who know how to build trails, love riding, and want to make this a quality place. They could have just gone out with a chainsaw and cut 10-15 runs in, but instead decided to take the time to make quality runs that everyone can have fun on.

The woodwork here is amazing. They have their own mill and bring in trees to make wood of, they do not cut down any trees unless it's absolutely neccessary, which makes this place scenic, and awesome to ride.

After the big berm, the tabletop jumps are down the middle of a row of trees, like a highway of awesomeness. Wait till you see the end product of the lodge as well, simple amazing. And, the bar will be up and running next season
