Chad Hedrick – American
He is SO the anti-Bode. And barring his hissy fit with that other dude Shanni, I like him. He said stuff in his interview like “I’m here to represent AMERICA” and “This is one of the most important races of MY LIFE and I wana compete at my highest ability.”
This guy is what representing your country is all about, except for the hissy fit.

Oh and it was poor sportsmanship not to shake shanni’s hand, even when having a hissy fit.

Maybe he's just tired of the media asking him about Davis instead of his accomplishments(Gold in the 5K and now a Bronze in the 1500m).

I bet he wins gold in the 5000. The 10K should be interesting if he is already saying he is tired.

My personal opinion is that Hendrick is a selfish hater. He was pissed that Davis didn't race in the team persuit which eliminiated his chance to win 5 golds, he tried to play it off as Davis not being a "team player" that's just a load of bs.
The last time I checked speed skating is an individual sport.
But I think that part of the blame lies in the set up of the games. Relays in the summer olympics come after all the individual running events, not in the middle. Over the years many star athletes have passed on running relays to give lesser known people a shot and none of them were crushed by the media.
If the organizers of the games used some common sense and mirrored the summer games this little spat wouldn't have happened.

Hedrick is totally hating on Shanni, totally. I'm getting more and more info as the interviews go along, i've never heard the complete story.
But Shanni(sp whatever) was never ‘officially’ offered a position on the 4 man team. Hedrick said “well is wasn’t a secret we wanted him.” But being the team captain as he as stated it was his duty to at least offer him the position.
But as Shanni stated he wouldn’t have accepted because the race he wanted to win was the next day.
From the info I have been able to gather, Hedrick is totally hatin on Shanni.
All that being said I still like is competitive sprit.

Personally I think Chad cheated on Shonni with either Johnny Wier or Apollo Ono, and that's where the hate is coming from.
Nobody decided to whack one of their teammates on the knee with a billy club this year, so we've resorted to talking about this petty drama. I love america.
