I've actually ridden a Zerode, a couple of years ago, and couldn't remember anything significant. Pretty much was the opposite kind of trail that i would think it might be a problem on.

Its not noticeable when going DH, but I do prefer my I9 rear hub over my Hope when Im riding uphill.

would it help if one could braze the freehub body to the axle and convert the hub to a true fixed one?

Not worth the added wear and tear on bullet proof drivetrain. You just get a high engagement point rear hub(Profile, AtomLab, New Mavic, I9, ETC).

So has anyone worked out how far it's off by? Eg. if you have a 10 degree engagement rear hub, what is your actual engagement on a Zerode once you factor in the double loss?
For what it's worth I didn't notice it either, but I wasn't looking for it.

There's a french company that makes fixed rear hubs specifically for pinion and other gb bikes. Drops a lot of weight and complication. I can't think of their name and a quick googling didn't show me anything.

This is the 10th time this has come up and the same convo happens every time , then everyone decides its fine how it is and some one buys a Zerode or doesn't.....
