Casino Royale revived the franchise. Skyfall killed it by going back in time to Moore times. It's also uber derivative of The Dark Knight and Bourne films.
It's a stupid mashup of all you like in movies cooked so you will enjoy it but it's very ham fisted, with a spineless script and overall a lazy cop out. It may be enjoyable but as a film it's as close to plagiarism you can get without getting sued.

Casino Royale was awesome.
A Quantum of Boring was boring.
I have high hopes for this new one.

It's already made over half a billion dollars, has received critical acclaim, and Daniel Craig has signed on for two more films. Hard to say the franchise has been killed.
We don't have that but we can get it for you.

Someday, I hope to be the person my dogs think I am.

o rly? good news!
saw it last night at the Imax theater. i thought it was pretty good but was hoping Bardem would be even more of a villain then he was and there was a bit more action. what action there was, was pretty damn good i thought. Craig quickly became my favorite Bond after his first movie. 2014 cant come soon enough for another Bond film

Roger Moore made Bond almost a cartoon character. He was the Bond of the day when I was growing up. So I automatically associate him with the franchise. But Craig is certainly the most bad-ass Bond.
(and he was pretty good on SNL.....watching a believable Jersey accent come out of his face was a little surreal)
“What does a man do, Walter? A man provides. And he does it even when he’s not appreciated, or respected, or even loved. He simply bears up and he does it. Because he’s a man.”

Are the books written as cheesy as the old movies were? I mean it's hard to criticize a movie with gadgets and evil sluts when the books are written that way.
I think casino royale worked because it was believable, but james bond is always going to be the guy with the lazer watch who kills the guy with the platinum dipped bollocks...

New Q? What happened to John Cleese? I liked that he brought his "Fawlty Towers" humor to the flicks.....
Better a participant than a spectator, and always riding with my daughter, Alaina, in her seat.
It's not the effort, it's the smile.

I liked it a lot. But was it a true bond film? I dont know really, i'm far from being a bond aficionado. I feel like if the future bonds are more like that, then the series could be ruined. Also, I dont know if I completely understand the timeline and the succession of the films. I know casino royale is the first, but where does skyfall come in? As far as I can tell it was not a book.
The DB-5 was awesome, truly made the movie from me. Once he stepped into it, everything was great to the end. The cinematography I thought was amazing too, definitely worth seeing on the big screen.
I dont know if I liked it as much as casino royale. but way, way better than quantum of solace.

Artisticly it was. Commercially it was a success.
btw. What's good about bringing the db5 and q back? It's a cheap trick to gain some nostalgia. Same for the lizard hopping and a few other small winks to the fans. Why not create a new memorable car or a new memorable character instead of rehashing old cliches?

Just discussing on the way home how much the bad guy is like the Joker.

Craig is now a close 2nd to Connery.
Actually Heineken Beer revived the franchise by dumping a bunch of money into it in exchange for Bond now only drinking Heineken.

I stopped watching Bond films after Roger Moore left the franchise.
Tact is for people not witty enough to be sarcastic.
