Hey Dave, My name is Devin. Im the one everyone thinks is a douche for taking sam hill pics. I know you saw the pics of you on my pinkbike profile, i didnt think you would mind but your IH8RICE buddy didnt seem to like it so much. If i affended you or anything of that sort, I truly appologize. i am a fan of you and your brother, you guys are amazing riders. i hope theres no hard feelings. and if you can tell IH8RICE to take a chill pill, that would be cool. Good luck this upcoming season, ill be rootin for ya.

Hey man, no problem! Glad I could be there for you! You happened to go down on a part of the race course that didn't have a lot of people standing around on the side, so I figured it would be nice for you to see a familiar face.

At first I was a bit confused however - someone told me that it was Lee who was down, so for the first 2 minutes I was there I was calling you "Lee". When the EMT asked you your name and you said "Dave", for a split second I thought either he is SERIOUSLY f'ed up, or I just made a jackass out of myself for the past 2 minutes. Apprently Sean (Pinkshirt) was the one who I.D.'d you as "Lee"... and he's a photographer...

Tell your Mom, the hug was heartfelt - I really understood what you were going through since I went through the same thing last year with my wreck at Dom. #2. I know how weird it can be to have all of this stuff going on around you and you don't know what comes next. Even just the little things like sun getting in your eyes while laying on the backboard, or feeling claustrophobic while in the neck brace - I know what that's like, and it sucks.

I can't believe all you had was a concussion. What degree was it? I just saw your crash footy and Sweet Jesus did your noggin' slam that rock! My buddy Gardy from Penn State who now does filming/editing for Aaron Chase saw you go down and said that from what he saw - your front wheel got caught by some rocks and wrenched the bars sideways - violently and so quickly, that you went down. Couldn't really tell from what was posted, but maby Gardy has a different angle.

...and WTF put that hole/gash in your leg? It looked like you got shot with a .38 ...

You are pretty lucky - glad it wasn't any worse. Do you have to go back for follow-up with your concussion? Did you have magnetic imaging or a CAT scan of your head?

Yeah - there's always next year. This year had perfect conditions, but the causalties were pretty intense out on the race course. The EMT treating you said that you were the 5th person to get Med Vac'd off the mountain. I don't think anyone was last year. Maybe it was a combination of it being dry so people thought they could blaze, but much rockier than they expected? (during their race runs, Swanguen flatted his rear, and I think Sam got a bit off line at the top)
