From you latest post I am thinking you might be going for a new frame/bike. Were you happy with the wilson? I am 6'1" and some reviews are saying it is a smaller DH bike, if so then I would be happy with this since I like to have more of a play bike and do a lot of jumping and FR. Do you recommend the Wilson as a DH bike that can still do FR? No hucks to flat but handle repeated hits. I dont fool myself to think I have done any real DH since I have good idea what real DH actualy is. There just arnt any serious DH runs here but I think I will have this option in South Africa. If I get into it and build up my confidence to ride DH with speed I may enter some local races for fun. If I am not hooked on DH I will need the bike to go back to more FR stuff which is what I really like. The FR trails I have built here in Korea are more groomed and I can hit them all on my Wildcard in 5" setting, I think SA will be different. Any feedback would be great.
Seb - I am looking to build a budget DH/Fr bike and Freeborn has a good prices on Wilson frames so it is definatley an option. I have ridden alot of Single pivot bikes and was thinking about an Izimu since I am going back to SA but was also considering a Blindside since they are also well priced. The trouble is I recently built up a Knolly Delerium and I am blown away by how well it rides and fits me. The Wilson is a Horst design so is similar to the Knolly and will help with brake Jack and since the trails in SA will be rougher than here in Korea I think it will be a nice feature. I have just emailed Devince to get more geo specs for all the adjustable options since the site doesnt make it clear what settings the Geo numbers are based on. I am looking to build more of a mini DH bike for rough but tight lines. Have you played with the various settings? I know you race but I don't, can you give any info about you experiences with the Wilson in general?
Hi seb, could you help me with choosing some new brakes? bit of a weight weenie myself, need some help. many thanks kyle
