Yeah that makes sense since I've owned a IIc, Mac Color Classic, Newton 120, Mac Mini G4, iMac G5, iPod 5.5G, iPod Nano 2G, and currently own a Macbook Pro 13. Same as JD, I can't tell random end users to f*ck off, its part of the job.
You don't turn away service at your bike shop when someone is using a brand/model that isn't your personal favorite do you?

The iPad is pretty nice, but it's too big for my liking, I would rather have my 8" netbook with actual keyboard (80% in size, but still).
This is in code right? And it's about buttplugs, isn't it?
When the lights came up at two, I caught a glimpse of you and your face looked like something Death brought with him in his suitcase.

Except now that most carriers don't readily offer unlimited data you are paying out of your quota to see content you don't want to see.

So what?
You're consuming free content that is costing someone money to produce, curate and host. Somehow, somewhere, someone has to get paid for that, or the service is going away.
I'm not saying that the ad should consume half the data on the page, but let's be realistic here. Mobile ads should be smaller, lightweight, not consuming a lot of data - but to suggest that it's somehow a burden is massive B.S. You click on any page with an image on it, and you've already eclipsed the amount of bandwidth consumed by the ad. Hell, the framework of most pages is more data than mobile ads, completely discounting the content.

Yes but in US we pay high costs for functionally monopolized service and get below average broadband. People get pissed when every day they are paying more and more for less and everything is over commercialized with less privacy.
Such as with Amazon's devices, you should get a discount if you opt in for ad-supported/tracked services/products. Your time and data plan/hardware/battery is not free and auto opt-in tricks are not acceptable or even legal. Its the same issue as adware/spyware/malware on the desktop only now they are hijacking your mobile device.

Heh. My guess is JD is testing porn pop-up ads.

I liked the looks of that 9" Kindle Fire... decent resolution, a bit smaller than the iPad. I just don't like the closed ecosystem.
We've had a couple of these for awhile now... pretty solid. Nice form-factor.
