Price check on Arugula, aisle 7
Anyone else think that Romney's 7-figure Olympics horse (that he took a $77,000 tax deduction on) is going to play just a TEENY part in the presidential election? I mean, we've heard for years that since Obama eats Arugula he's an elitist snob, but Mittens owns a horse that is going to be entered into the "Horse Ballet" at the London Games? Seriously?
The pushback has already started... Cavuto / Fox News is already trying to claim that dressage is necessary for Ann Romney's Multiple Schlorosis ("A ha! Making fun of a poor woman's suffering, how could you??!?"), even though Romney claimed the horse as a business/tax loss as opposed to any type of medical treatment. Right now the only ones pushing the story are left-wing blogs/media (like MSNBC) and Colbert, but I can't help but think that this is going to look really, really, really poorly on Mitt when the nightly news reports on his horse prancing about at the Olympics.
Thoughts?

The Kennedy family's wealth makes Mitt look like a stable-boy by comparison yet Dems smoked their poles without hesitation.
The fact that Mitt owns an expensive horse doesn't even register among the reasons I wouldn't vote for him. And frankly, anyone who makes a decision over something that trivial is a frothing moron.

Since when are you (or anyone else on here) indicative of the general populace? You do know that there was a concerted effort to claim that Obama was an elitist snob because he liked arugula, right?
I'm wondering whether this is going to play out in the general public the way Kerry's $8,000 Serotta did.

I never heard one thing about the Obama/arugula thing. Ever. My FIL is a deeply entrenched (campaigned with/for the Kennedy's and every other major Dem candidate, former MA state rep and senator, audited the dangling chads in FL etc) die-hard liberal political activist/pro-Labor union lawyer and we talk politics all the time.
$8000 bikes are a ridiculous concept to the general public regardless of who owns them.

Then again, I stopped reading most national news in 09 after tiring of the negativity driving todays media.
The talking heads on both sides have no bearing on my day to day life. IMO, they are self serving, agenda whoring windbags.

I dunno man, while concerning, that seems like a bit of a stretch.......

The right wing (pretty much all of it, not just the talking heads) have been dry-humping the "Obama is an elitist because he eats arugula" story ever since mid-'07... Although they have been strangely quiet recently. Maybe the realize that that story might not fly quite so well Romney's horse goose-stepping through the Olympics.
