DH/fun trail riding in near Raleigh?
I am moving to Raleigh, NC in a few months. Anyone from the area on here, that could tell me where some good trails are? Also what resorts are close, I know snowshoe is about a 6 hour drive...

Well Raleigh is not the best area for DH in NC (flatland) however there are some decent dirt jump / freeride
areas close by (check trianglemtb.com forums freeride). Also NC mtns have alot of natural DH terrain but not so many truly legal DH specific trails. check the Ridemonkey South Forums to see whats going down. Beech MTN NC (about 4 hrs from Raleigh) is planing on opening a bike park with satelite days scheduled for the 2012season and the national qualifiers and chanpionships being held there again this year to help promote the bike park. Windrock in Knoxville TN (I know it's a bit further west) is also a great DH place to check your skills and is a must to any true DH fan in the south east. Check it out on youtube (
