if you have geico, fkcu you

    tl;dr version:

beginning of march, my car gets hit on drivers side by some mindless asshat.

mindless asshat is insured by geico

geico forces me to go to some questionable shop, i relunctantly agree because they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee on the work

it is now may 2. my car is in the shop FOR THE FOURTH TIME to correct an issue that A) they didn't catch with their initial work to fix the damage or B) caused themselves during the initial repair

    rage.

also, i was incorrectly charged for the rental car from the initial repair - despite being explicitly told i would not. getting reimbursed took a month and 5 phone calls (including 2 phone calls to a corporate rep)

Why are you dealing with the other insurance company anyway?
They have zero interest in keeping you happy as you're not their client.

We always had our cars repaired through our insurance, who then chases other insurance co for payment.
You also can't be forced to work with any particular shop.

because the other driver hit me and was at fault, i opted to go through their insurance. otherwise i would've had to pay out of pocket, then wait to get reimburst. the damages were over $3000 which i didn't have at the time.

When I was hit last winter, I was fortunate enough to be hit by a lady with the same insurance co. Made for a quick and painless repair/rental. Still good 16 months and 50k miles later.

    must be nice.

the one small iota of satisfaction i got out of this is that the driver was cited for "careless driving" by the police officer who responded to the scene.*

*note: i was not driving the car at the time, my fiancee liz was.
