Starbucks tastes like burnt beans...
Try to find some Kona coffee. Another good coffee is Peet's (www.peets.com), which I'm sure you can find in NC.

Do you have a Wal-Mart super center close to you that sells groceries? They should carry both Green Mountain and Millstone beans. Green Mountain is my favorite, but Millstone is good, also. Your local grocery store chain should carry at least 1 decent brand of coffee beans.
In the northeast you can buy Green Mountain coffee everywhere. Are you opposed to internet sales?

i would recomend skipping out on the super center for coffee and hitting up some whole foods store. you've got to have those in nc right? they sell coffee in bulk. you can get as much or as little as you would like and you can try all different kinds. we had a co-op in our neighborhood that sold coffee in bulk for 2$ a pound cheaper than any other grocery in town.
we roast our own and so far, its better than any we have ever store bought.
