looking for cardio
not jogging/running - my knees cant take that
looking for outside stuff I can do solo .......suggestions?
the cheaper/closer to my door step the better!
rollerblading/inline skating?
Cross Country skiing/snowshoeing in the winter?

How about hopping on a bicycle and pedaling it for a couple of hours...

Any access to a gym? Rowing is decent cardio workout, depending on what kind of bike you have, you could get a trainer/rollers. Good workout unless you have a FS mtn bike, although you might still be able to rig something up that'll work.

I have a trainer and will be joining a gym, but I was asking for "outside" ideas

Perfect time of year for it. Find the steepest trails with the most elevation gain.
