c'mon, that would be something else we could put on the DH bike:
Something like 18th place, Expert, 25-29 Norba Nats. Would go perfectly between Sam's Aussie stripes and the 2003 championship rainbow logo... http://www.cripplefight.com/smileys/thefinger.gif

I've been excluded. Guess I should have gone to ETSU and peddled in the mud during that spring race....or, actually put on the Wolf Race.

Seems like they're letting just about anyone race...the Norba 'rankings' are silly...I raced ONE TIME this year, crashed, got 8th and am ranked 5th in the state and am qualified for Nat Champs....does not seem right. This is Sport class too and the race was not even a Nat - just the ol Sea Otter.

Hell I qualified and I have finshed last place in regional series pretty much. The one they list I finshed ahead of people that DNF'd  In my defense on that race I was stupid and farted around with a dropped chain as 2 guys passed me then rolled the course anyway losing atleast a minute on my first run as my second run was closer in the hunt. :D I can only blame my mechanic....ME! :D

Ha, I read somewhere that they changed the criteria to qualify and made it easier. I guess that they were afraid of a low turnout at the race.
So, now this race is less of a National Championship and more like a Community College, where they let every racer in the community in. :p
I say the more the merrier, it sucks excluding people.

· Mammoth Qualifier Numbers have been Increased!!!

The Number of US National MTB Championship Qualification Slots have been increased due to the positive interest from members with regards to qualifying and competing at the inaugural US National MTB Championships, USA Cycling and Mammoth Mountain, the host venue, have decided to increase the rider qualification slots by five at each respective qualification race. This change is effective for all qualification events and the rider qualification list posted on the USA Cycling website will reflect the newly added riders. The increase in qualification slots will be distributed as follows:
AMBC and NMBS Events Increased from five slots in each class/category/discipline to 10 slots in each class/category/discipline
NORBA State Championships Increased from 10 slots in each class/category/discipline to 15 slots in each class/category/discipline

Mammoth Qualifiers Page NOTE: This page is up but as of 7/28/04 I have not been able to pull up any qualifiers - please do not contact us - we have submitted our results and will continue to do so. Here is how we see it:
If you are in the top 15 in the Cal State Points after Northstar (Northstar is after the cutoff but we think we will be able to use those results and it is an AMBC race)- you are qualified
If you placed in the top 10 at Castaic, Sagebrush, Santa Barbara, Sea Otter, Bonnelli, Am Cup #1, Snow Summit Nationals, Sonoma Nationals or any other AMBC or NMBS event - you are Qualified for Mammoth
We are assuming Mammoth's NMBS page will be up soon, but contact Mammoth for event details.

All I know is I qualified and I want to go. I am trying to put my shiznit together and get out there. My first Nat'l might as well be the championships.

I'll probably get my ass handed to me.

As the southeast guys know I've been racing and really putting in a good effort, but my skills don't seem to increase. At Sugar I almost knocked myself out in the top woods section. Hit my head on a rock and it changed the taste in my mouth. Kind of likie chocolate and strawberries, really wierd. Came in next to last. I just do not have good luck there.

Maybe at the Nat's- I'd rather be lucky than good!
