Cliff notes:

Well, there was sausage. Lots of sausage. Thanks, Echo!

Monkeys from the Carolinas, from DC, from Colorado, from Hawaii... Rolled in all day Friday.

Three rides Friday, two during the day and one at night. pigboy, following family tradition, did a nose dive and took 24 hours deciding that he was alive again.

Various rides Saturday, more sausage. More beer. More music. A second night ride, which pigboy joined. Rain. Bonfire. Fireworks. Treesaw on the night ride laughing maniacally while crashing.

Three hour ride this morning by the diehards. EVeryone back home or headed there.

Here are some shots I took on Friday afternoon of Deyv, Echo, and Squirrel rockin the Monkeyfest Stunts!

The order:
Echo, Deyv, Deyv, Squirrel!

Some more Stunt pics - Deyv went so big in one that I cut off his head!

The blue sky in the last photo of Echo is indicative of what the weather was like on Friday - except that it was friggin wicked hot and pretty damned humid too.

The Friday night light's ride down Moose Alley was fun as hell! A ton of Monkeys ripping it up, hooting and hollering and ringing bells (spincrazy!) mixed in witha few oh ****s and grunts and groans - so much fun!!

That was fun! It was great to see so many monkeys again, and meet many new faces too.

NEGladeRider, your camp is the perfect place and you are a big reason these two annual gatherings have been so awesome. Thanks again!

I was privileged to add Squeak, Tammy, Psycle-on, Steff, BikeGeek, and pigboy to the growing list of great Ridemonkey members I've met, rode with, and had beers with.

I had this great plan of taking lots of helmet cam footage, pictures, etc... but once again I couldn't stop hitting that jump over and over :p Good thing there were many other monkeys around who were documenting the festivities :thumb:

The weather threatened all weekend, but the rides were rain free on perfect singletrack, and there was plenty of rain free time for jumping and stunt riding.

Another awesome successful Monkeyfest! Thanks everyone!

Looks like you had fun. I freaking overslept the funeral and I am in it deep for that with my fathers side of the family.(Well except for my father, who hated the person anyways) It was a fun visit with my uncle today. You definately had more fun. Me what I did then on Sat was get on the bike despite being ill and hit the trails.

mmmm............Treesaw you are a cake artiste!! And it tasted might yummy too!!

I want to thank NEGladerider for letting us camp at his place - it rocked. I also want to thank IAB and MBC for driving to and from this weekend! It was nice traveling with you two.

Such good times. It was also great to see Jollytime again - sucked that he couldn't ride with us this weekend - but still great to get to spend time with Jollytime and Mrs. Jollytime. JT was really the person who sparked my love of riding bikes and it is always great to catch up with him.

So great to see the Jackelopes again, and Treesaw and Earl and douglas and Justbill and Deyv and Isa and Jozz and Karine, etc. etc. Great to meet other monkeys for the first time as well including Johnbryanpeters, Pigboy, Psycle On and Tammy, Squeek etc.

Great to catch up with Bikegeek too - he had the best tent at monkeyfest!

Can't wait til next year, and/or maybe another Fall northeast Monkeyfest?? :D

Oh yeah, I mentioned this place to a few people - Fell Mountain (http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90687) - I'd like to go in a week or two - if you are interested PM me. Same length as the ride we did on Saturday (14 mi.) only super technical. Flow is so good, feels like 2/3 downhill and only 1/3 uphill :D

For Chrissakes, why don't people introduce themselves as their RM screen names? :D Josh, did you get the bug out of your ear?

Our plans to show Tammy and psycle-on some Connecticut trails yesterday were washed out by rain, rain, rain. So we ate and watched cartoons instead.

Monkeyfest 2 was indeed fun, and MBC survived a night of camping (she is already talking about the next camping trip! ). :D I am REALLY bummed that I didn't get to ride with the big group Saturday, and double bummed that Jozz, Steff, and Karine were waiting for us at the shop and we didn't hook up with them. :( I would have loved to ride with them. In any case, it was nice to se my friend Jollytime again over breakfast, and the ride with MMcG, MBC, tammy, and p-o Saturday was an awesome 16 miler. P-O took really nice pics from that ride. I have a bunch too, and I will post them tonight.

Did Monkeycamp get rained on Saturday night? We drove trough TORRENTIAL rain coming home, and it started soon as we got in 91 in Lyndonville.

yup, it rained but we didnt get too wet - we were all hanging/cozy under the two ez-ups ( I am so glad I bought one!!!)

But it let up, so we were hanging by the fire and Squeek was trying to talk us into a night ride...it wasnt working so well until he said "I thought this monkey fest was about riding bikes!? "
That one worked! So 8 of us went on one of the most fun (even thou it was pretty short) rides I have been on in a while!! A night ride down Moose on the Bigrigs w/Isabelle waiting for us with cold beers at the bottom - slick/slippery and so much fun!

Well Squeek and PigBoy biked up that crazy long hill !! Squuek is one heck of a fast climber

after we calmed down from that ride, we went back to hanging by the fire and were impressed by ECHO's big stick

It was good seeing you Phil. And nice meeting Tammy too. Glad we could hook you up..... Sorry for not being socialble and stopping by the Monkeycamp all. Our next trip up to the Kingdom we will be more social. This was my vacation and I wanted to get as much riding in as possible up there. And boy did we ever ride! We did 31 miles Thursday, 19 miles Friday (up Moose Alley!), 28 miles Saturday (ouch), and then 11 (up Dead Moose Alley and Upper Dead Moose Alley!) on Sunday before we left. We rode it all. The weather held out, food was great, beer flowed (but not as much), good company, awesome campsite, and great trails. We all had fun. Probably not as much fun as you guys as I can see from the pics  We are planning to go back up the second week in October. It was all good. I missed JT, relay to him that I am sorry and we will see him next time........jdcamb

It was amazing to see all the knowed monkeys again and meet some news ones. You guys rocks! Isa and me had such a great time.

Great to see old monkeys again and meet all you new monkeys. (Hey sydasti -- did you used to have a Superlight or was I thinking of another monkey?)
Treesaw -- Thanks for being the food wench again. :D
I look forward to sharing trails and brews with as many of you as possible in the future.
Ride on. :thumb:

You mean peak foilage? Holy tourists!

You can add 3 more to the tourist list. :thumb: The wife, kid and I will be out in Vermont that last week. We'll be just an hour south of 'The Kingdom' that week. I'm not sure if I'm going to ship my bike out yet or not. I may just ride whatever bike happens to not have a rider on it at my bro's house.

Great pictures and write-ups everyone! It was fantastic to finally put a face to so many of the names, as well as getting to see some Monkeys again for the first time in years! - I had a great time, despite being exhausted from the loooong drive up there (unfortunately I was just too tired for the night ride Friday. :help: )

However, those trails rocked! It was a pleasure to get to meet everyone, and ride with at least most of you! Also I have to give a special thanks to NEGladerider for being such a gracious host.

Already looking forward to the next MonkeyFest. :)

P.S. HEIDI - I got your message -- Hello to you too!

Looks like a good time was had! I say that LordOpie, pixelninja, Bldr_Freerider, myself, Renegade, and any other monkies in Colorado try to organize a Fall Monkeyfest for the midwest, say perhaps in Denver or Boulder? Possibly mid to late October?

And yes let's actually try hard to plan it as opposed to just saying it'll happen. :)

It was great seeing those that we knew again and putting faces to the names of all those we know from the site! The riding was great and I wish we had more time to see all there is to ride up there! Maybe next year....

Also thanks a million to NEGladeRider for allowing us to use his awesome campground!

I 've had a great week-end during this MonkeyFest. It was nice to meet all these new people.

Sorry if my english was sometimes hard to understand, I will try to improve this point for next year... or this fall! :D

Thanks to NEGladeRider for everything this week-end, and also to Douglas for his hospitality during Saturday's dinner. TreeSaw, your cake and your molten marshmallow sandwich were delicious! :thumb:

Everyone that was at monkeyfest last year was waiting impatiently for this year's edition. Finally the east coast gathering of many members of Ridemonkey.com was last weekend at the fantastic Kingdom Trails.

This is the beautifull Ridemonkey cake that Treesaw did :thumb:

People came from all over to participate in this Mountainbike festival: Colorado, North Carolina, Virginia and even Hawaii

Our dear friend Squeak flew from Denver and came to meet us in Montreal and we drove together to Vermont early friday morning. With only a few hours of sleep the night before we had a lot of fun on the road fooling around saying stupid things and laughing our asses off.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_3960.jpg

We were so happy that Baboon and Mtnbikerchk were staying at the camp this year. I don`t know how Bab convinced his wife to sleep in a tent but I hope it will not be the last time.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_3965.jpg

Dave (non-monkey) and me had to repair the famous around the fire stunt. It was fixed in a matter of minutes and was ready to claim victims again this year  and it did :dead:

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_3961.jpg

MMcG, who could not come last year seemed to be very happy to be there this year.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_3966.jpg

We gathered a small group of rider for a early warmup on the friday afternoon. From left to right: Pig Boy, Isa, MMcG, Splat, Squeak, Baboon, Douglas and JohnBryanPeters. We did a 6 miles loop consisting of mainly hilly doubletracks.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_3969.jpg

Besides the great riding and the very friendly people, NEgladerider camp is a great part of the sucess of Monkeyfest. His camp is located directly on the trails with great views of Burke mountain and the surrounding. Thanks again Mark for everthing.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_3970.jpg

Steff was the first of the AllezY crew to arrive on site, Jozz and Karine would arrive a little later in the evening.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_3971.jpg

Ever since Squeak served as hiking guide for Isa that was in Denver for work we became good friends and we try to hook up every year.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_3972.jpg

The famous jump of last year also needed some light repairs but soon the jumping began.

From left to right: Negladerider, Echo, Dave, Deyv, Squirel, Treesaw, Bikegeek, MMcG and Tweek.

JohnBrianPeters nephew, Pigboy, flew from Hawai to participate in the monkeyfest. Last year he saw his uncle`s famous houston we have a problem video on the big jump where he broke his arm and ironicly said that he could do better than that. He almost did. He tried the 4 foot drop at the end of the around the fire bridge and almost did a full front flip and landed on his head. We were very scared. He was finally all right but his weekend of riding was in jeopardy.

After a couple of very good beers that everyone brought from their neck of the woods we decided it was time for a Moose Alley night ride.

What a blast! I think this was my best night ride of all time. The tight and technical moose alley is perfect to fly down at ridiculous speed at night. WOW!

Saturday morning: The main event of the monkeyfest is the big loop of all the best singletrack of the kingdom trails. Mostly every joined for this epic ride. Here`s team Titus, Squeak and Isa.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_4007.jpg

The singletrack of East Burke are not very technical but the flow is awesome. Riding fast in between the trees, railing switchback after switchback, and power up the small hills is a great adrenaline rush.

Here`s Splat at the exit of Fence Line

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_4008.jpg

This pics is a little blury but the smile on Bikegeek face says so much.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_4009.jpg

Squeak, Echo, Justbill and Tweek taking a well deserved rest.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_4010.jpg

Squirel is a beautifull rider to follow, he always take crazy lines but always remains terribly smooth.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_4011.jpg

Echo and me decided to be the SS brothers on that weekend. We rode our singlespeed hardtail and loved it. The kingdom trails are a blast on a SS, the snap and acceleration of the quiet drivetrain felt soo good.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_4012.jpg

My legs were really tired from mashing up the hills on the SS but even the people with gears started to feel the pain.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_4015.jpg

We were a big group but it worked very well. The group stayed together and we did not have to wait long for everyone.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_4016.jpg

Beat bug is one of my favorite trails. I made the mistake of saying it is not a hill, but it climbs all the time the group did not find this funny at all :P

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_4017.jpg

We did about 17 miles and rode the best trails of the network.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_4019.jpg

This is the ride we did

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/east_burke_mapmfii.jpg

Eventhought that everyone was pretty drained after the ride, the friendly chitchat, the beer drinking, the stunt riding and the great food was enjoyed by all.

Squeak really wanted to do a nite moose alley ride again on saturday night but everyone was too drunk and tired to go. Until he said: Is this a Mountainbike place or what? a group of proud warriors immediately got their nite riding gear on and went to tackle a very slippery and muddy Mosse Alley. On the way down we heard treesaw laughing and screaming from miles away. She is simply the best!

After many crashes, slids, missed turns and running into trees we reached the bottow where Isa, a big pickup truck and some cold beers were waiting for us. Life is good! Pigboy, who had recovered enough to ride, and squeak did not take the shuttle offer and rode the painfull climb back to camp. We shuttled back up to the camp sitting on the tail gate of the truck with beers in our hands while cheering the brave guys that were riding up.

The next day was supposed to be freeride ....... day for some of us But the weather was menacing and people with a lot of driving to do decide to leave early. :(

We were still able to gather enough people to form a decent group for another xc ride. We did a shorter version of the ride the day before and 2 of Negladerider friends showed us some new trails. The day turned out to be sunny , hot and beautifull. The pace was faster than the day before and after that many rides in a row combined with very hot and humid weather, we were spent...... but soooo happy!

Here`s the group of the sunday ride. Douglas (non-monkey), Squeak, Johnbrianpeters, Isa, Deyv, Pig Boy and a friend of Negladerider that I sadly forgot his name.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/MFII/IMG_4020.jpg

Nice recaps :monkey: Worth the hellishly long drive, but next year lets get closer to the real world eh? :D. I felt like I rode one day and drove the other two. Great meeting you all and a definite, big thanks to NEGladerider who I don't think I spoke a word to.

All in all: Deyv is an animal. Lots of skills out there. Can't believe Squeak actually made it and the boy can climb that's for sure. Jackalopes are a really good bunch.

Great to meet you all. If ever in the NY metro area, let me know and I'll show you around.

See you on the trails.

so yeah. the bridge did try to kill me. or rather i am an idiot and used the bridge to prove this fact but good. the long and the short of it is that we all need to work our way up to the 4-6 foot drops by practicing on smaller stuff. I went off the end of the bridge and did a beauty nosedive, landed on my neck and shoulders with all my weight and smashed my sunglasses into my left eyelid. I guess I came about as close as you can to being blind in one eye and paralyzed or dead. i'll count my lucky pennies when i get home to Hawaii. I might have to sacrifice them to Pele the Volcano Goddess to try and ensure my continued existence on the planet.

The big bald fella going over the jump is named Kevin and after I took my tumble he, being a chiropractor, told me to ice the crap out of my injuries and stretch as much as possible. I did this and was able to ride Saturday night and Sunday day (12 miles on Sunday) so I'm pretty stoked to be mostly functional. My whole neck and shoulders are still pretty messed up so I'm going to be visiting my orthopedist when I get home next week to make sure I don't have any floating broken bits inside me.

all in all it was a really fun weekend and it was great to meet some monkeys in person. next year JBP and I will have to try and bring a new family member to sacrifice to the stunt gods.

we think his name is Kevin

glad you're feeling better - that looked NASTY!

I agree with the ice - but for the first 24 hours, stretching a cold muscle is like stretching a cold elastic band - SNAP!

Let us know what the doc says!

Here's my first post on this monkey site. I'm a neighbor of Deyv and Isa and was suppose to make it to the MonkeyFest this year, but the work called me outside the country (London, UK, how could I say no?!). I juste hope I can make it next year cause it looks like it was a blast again this year! :thumb:

Is there any kind of record for earning a custom title with the fewest number of posts.
Somthing good has got to come of this.

I had a great video of you taking the hard line over the log (and into the log on the ground), but my computer crashed and I think it's lost :(

It wasn't the archery signs that scared me, it was all of the TARGETS we saw in the woods that scared me.

When you exit the long climb after the river pause, their is a big bench like structure that Deyv and other tried to climb on... well just past that after the bench their is a trail head just behind it!

Sounds good to me, gives a little more prep time for the 24 hours of Great Glen (August 13-14).
