View Full Version : Sponsorship???

I would love to gripe about how unproductive my "sponsor" has been, but that's just unnecessary at this point. I've taken off the yellow and pink shirt and that's all that matters.

I would however like to ask if any of you have suggestions... Does anyone know of a team with an empty spot? I'd love to go to a National event, but with no help it's hard to make ends meet. I can hardly even afford to hit the locals on my own. Thank GOD that Turner gave me such a great deal on my DHR... too bad I dont have a freggin' rear wheel for it yet!

I want to send out a bunch of resumes, but without a team association of any kind they wont even look at me. A friend of mine wants to start racing and we've talked about making our own team. Anyone else?

The best "sponsorship arrangement" would be to start pooling resources with a few others so not to have to eat all expenses solo. Nobody's covering entries or hotels at the local/regional level nowadays and bike part deals are only good *if* you need parts. But you probably already knew that.

Seems like John's 100% BMX this year, not that that's any consoloation.

you're correct, the root of the problem is he has no intrest in promoting DH or 4X. I figure it's time to look for someone that wants what little advertisement I can offer.

I'm aware that there's no $ out there for small races. I can cover the costs of those on my own. I would like to go out to all of the nationals, but I am nowhere near close enough to having the money.

What would be ideal is a small team that could get some nice results and approach a company together. Maybe seatposts from Thompsaon or rubber from Maxxis... and split the costs of hotels on the road. I dont see how I deserve anything more than that.

Doug, I wouldnt mind that at all. We could train helldog to bite our competition. Heck, with the money I've saved by sleeping on your sofa, I consider you a sponsor already.

Team Barhump Warriors might be willing to accept some new riders, but Mike, to be honest, we're going to have to see a higher level of riding and respect from you before you can wear the pink jersey.

DH is so dead right now that the need or benefit of teams is low. I think SEI is the only team left, but even their numbers have shrunk.

However, get hooked up with a frame or bike sponsor. Sport their frames, ride in one of their jerseys, and act professional.

Only reason we shrunk was b/c Tyler moved to Charleston and took up surfing, Bloch can't stand structure and well...we had to drop one turd.

We're picking up steam for next year and adding to the roster. I'll have a budget next season without fail.

Sponsorship isn't dead...promoting oneself and understanding how to market yourself are! Next time you see a guy with "THe Palms Casino" written on his back in some 4th grade handwriting, remember that it's not what you do...it's how you do it!

Yeah, getting a Southeast money sponsor next year should be a real treat.

I will walk in a place and go, Hey, you should give us money and sponsor our race team, and who knows, we may have an event or two to go to next year. :thumb:

In my experience, forming teams is best with just the guys you ride with on the weekend. Trying to make a local team too Big time is a pain.
Just keep it local and fun.

Also, Reality Bikes had a huge team a few years ago and then Leikam went to moto and it disappeared the next day.
