This is more like it. The US Congress is spot on here:

This truly seems a cause for humanitarian intervention, with force if necessary. (And I don't mean bombing Khartoum.)

About time too........there's only a couple hundred thousand dead so far
I am thiking we should let the EU handle this one... Sudan has no real organized military so the French just might prevail.

Man! Y'all are some HARSH muthafuggahs!
This community is about fellowship and mutual support and rainbows and cuddly-cute bunnies(so long as they are not associated with a Christian Easter). What has happened to your sense of charity and love of your fellow man? :p

The UN:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/3915105.stm
Mr Annan spoke as his special representative for Darfur, Jan Pronk, briefed members of the Security Council.
The secretary general said the people in the region were right to be nervous about the continuing violence.
"It is clear that serious crimes have been committed and there has been gross and systematic abuse of human rights," he said.
"We, the international community, must intensify our efforts to protect the innocent in Darfur," Mr Annan added.

The UN can only do what its member states agree to after all...
Kofi Annan is one politician who is far less deserving of criticism over humanitarian issues than most.

As a man I am sure that is right, but as the current head of an orginization that was created in order to help keep the peace... total failure.
But it's not his fault, the UN has become as relevant and powerful as a high school debate club.
Useless Nations...

Well, the UN was designed to be toothless...
Maybe we should start a 'how would you make the UN more useful thread'?
Oh, hang on, I did that a few months back and we ended up with nothing better. The UN would be fine so long as it did what the US told it to and didn't tell the US what to do, it seems. So still toothless.
It's a talking shop basically.
