July 18, 2004 Silverton,Colo.—Silverton Mountain’s hosted the 2nd annual Downhill Frenzy bike race to over 30 exited mountain bikers. Riders traveled from as far as Arkansas to test their skills on Silverton Mountain’s steep bike trails. Myles Rockwell, Durango local and former World Champion commented, “it is the best downhill course I have ever ridden”.

Silverton Mountain is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 9am-3:30pm for scenic sky rides and biking throughout the summer. Special thanks goes out to Pedal the Peaks and all the Silverton volunteers. There was over $1000 in raffle prizes from local Silverton/Durango businesses for racers and volunteers so everyone walked away a winner.</p>

I had so much fun there. All the work they have been doing is amazing. Silverton Mt. will be even better in a few more years when the trail system is developed more. Double black diamopnd trails only, what more could you ask for!

It's not close to anywhere. 3 hours from GJ. Durango 1 hr. It's worth the drive and there is great camping near by. Bring a rain coat.

SW Colorado rocks. Too bad it's so freakin expensive. Even houses in Silverton are pricey - strange since it's so remote.

Sweet! I wish that the dirt in SoCal was that nice and tacky. Here it's all loose over hardpack- it's like riding on marbles. That's an awesome course.

Silverton Mountain ROCKS!!! I've skied a few days there in the winter and the terrain is amazing! SW Colorado is beautiful and I can only imagine the trails would be epic.

Aaron and Jen at Silverton are stellar folks who deserve big-time support from skiers and bikers alike for the cool vibe they are putting back into skiing and biking.

Silverton is a teeny little town, but it's much busier in the summer due to tourist activity. I love Tiki's for breakfast and there's actually a really good Italian place just off main street that has me salivating right now!

I'd love to hit it before fall comes... we'll see.
