Any difference between the new Saint Brakes and xts?

I just saw my first pair of Saints and there seems to be now difference between them and the new xt's...oh and anyone know if they still use the same pad as the old xts?

I think the new XT's is the same as Saints. Dont think the old pads will fit. 2 vs 4 pistons.

Hmm, Shimano still has the 4 piston brakes listed as XT... They're going 2-piston this year? Link?

The 4 pots have been phased out and will not be produced anymore, from what I've been told. There still are some 4's floating around but only some for boxxers. The 2 pots area all they're making anymore.

I visited shimano.com before posting my reply (hey, I'm not THAT stupid!), and clicking on the exact same set of steps that I just clicked on (shimano.com - click North America - click MTB - click Deore XT - select the hydraulic brake), produced the page for the 4 piston brake. Now it produces the 2 piston.. F'ing weird.

Must be a glitch in the matrix.

they are the same for sure, if you removed the paint off both calipers and stuck them side by side there is no difference, none what so ever. Our Rep had both and this question was brought up.

They went with the redesign because the old 4 piston was a two piece caliper, under hard hard braking the two pieces would try and seperate losing power.... the new solid one piece is said to be much improved over last years 4 pots.

4 pots with apparent caliper flex... vs 2 pot single piece design. Hrm... Personally, I love the 4 pots, and know alot of people that would run them if they could get them. Ahh well, such is the way of Shimano.

I have sets of both and the only difference in the caliper is the color and label. The major difference is in what rotor is bundled with the caliper, XT's have the standard sized ceterlock and the Saint's have the oversized one.

Try gravity racing components they make their own adapters for XT M755/M756.

Like the previous post said, you can use the regular adapter to go from 6" to 8" if you can't find the new adapter. I bought the 6" XT front and used a GRC adapter to run an 8" rotor and it works fine.

Do the new XTs have the same spacing as Hayes? Looks like it....so can't you use a Hayes 8in adapter?

Thanks for the heads up on the GRC adapter, but I need a 74 post mount adapter. QBP has them in stock now, so I'll pick on up.

Yup no more 4 pistons.I have a set of 4's and new 2 piston XT's,the new XT 's feel very similar to the old ones in terms of feel but with a little less flex.The small amount of squish is still there which offers a VERY nice feel at the lever.They feel at least as powerful as the old model but grab a little harder initially since there is less flex.Thet are also much lighter and easier to install.The quality is way up there including polished pistons,easy pad removal,2 pad compound choices,74mm spacing and mono design.I have tried the 2 different pads(organic and metallic).The metallic ones feel fine and the organic ones offer more power but should wear faster,i have one of each pad in each caliper at the moment and get excellent power.They also still run mineral oil which i like to work with but don't dissapate heat as well as dot fluid(which hasn't been a problem yet).So far i'd say they are my favorite brake to date,feeling far better than Hayes-not to mention the recent lack of quality on Hayes brakes-and rivaling the mighty Hope brakes-XT's are 1 less expensive,2 universal rotors,3 more comatability,and 4- 2 piston light,4 piston power.
But hey they are still new and Hopes still rock.Bam! :heart:
