Well since I'm probably the only person awake.... I'll post some pics :)

I wasn't there for most of it and I didn't participate so you'll have to wait for the guys to get up from their naps for commentary. HOWEVER, here are some of my favorite pics (I took some, IAB took the rest).

And, they are in no particular order.

#1 My fav - IAB on his final lap:

OK , I'm Awake!
not sure for how long :p

But it was awesome !

Big props go out to our cook and general Good guy justbill! Bill the food was awesome !
and it can't be said loud enough
WESTY ROCKS

I have lots and I mean lots ! 1 GB worth, ( some are Jdcambs ) so it will take a little time for me to sort and crop them all.

Friday we all got there , and We various groups went out and did pre-rides , I went out with the Jak-a-lopes and ass balancers. and I showed my stupidy quickly. shortly into the course you go into the woods and there is a mud hole with a ladder across it , I hop on it and look back ( really bad Idea ) which send me off , wheel chatch one ofthe 2x4's and OTB I go. Tuck and rool , no problem , a Smal bruize/scrap on my leg and that is all . So I think. As I'm climbing up the hill I feel the top of My helmet and notice a new large dent . I take it off to look at it and Its a good one! the corner of a 2x4's imprint in my Helmet. ( upon father inspection later I would find it is cracked , 1 giro-switch blade , Juob Well done ) anyway we do the rest ofthe course and it is just an awesome course.

Saturday Morning we wake , and it is RAINING !was raing most ofthe night. the rain lets up about 10 , but the corse is now a Muddy mess ! DOuglas takes off as our #1 man, I'm on deck. I had originally planned to use my hardtail , but seeing what the conditions are now I grab my Full suspention. ( which is what I used for the pre-ride) douglas pulls an awesome 59 Minue lap and I'm off , feeling pretty good a little tight nothing major. I get into the woods and it is MUDDY ! and that would play Hell on my drive train and make my granny gear un-usable , and me and my time suffered because of it . I pulled a 1:15 on that lap and handed off to IAB. But I'll tell you I was feeling pretty down on my self about that lap , and AS I was nearing the end , Just before I got to the Over/Under I herd some scream "it splat" and them cow bells and cheering of "go Splat" and Man that really lifted my Spirts Big time as I went over the bridge.

Mean while the weather has turned into a beutiful Sunny day.

On my 2nd lap I decide to use my hardtail , seeing it has a brand new drive train on it. and this time I was able to ride like I wanted to ! and Douglas handed off to me about 7:15 , about half way through the lap I Turned on my lights, and because of twi-light was very hard to see. But the Course was in better shape ( I felt , Deyv did not feel that way) Not exacly sure what My time was but I felt beter.

I continue to stay with the hard tail, and MY next lap douglas handed off to me at about 1:45 AM , and I really felt good ! may have been my slowest lap at 1:23 but I felt really good, I passed a bunch of people on the big climb and just really felt good! Got passed by a couple too.

and my fianl lap , I Think it was adound 9 am Douglas handed off to me. and I felt Bad!!! as I went under the over/under and every one was cheering for me ( My daughter yelling go daddy! ) , I almost was ready to say get some one else out here. I felt hungry but also felt like I was going to puke my brains out ! and I was not moving well, It just did not look good . as I was about to start the 4 mile climb I stopped and drank a bunch of water and ate 3 "gu"s I continued on and about 10 minutes later I started to feel better and caught 3 of the riders who had passed me minutes earlier. and on the 2nd half of the course I was flying ! the re was a Technical /muddy /fast /single track down on that last run I almost bought 3 times at high speed , Hit a rock at high speed and in the woods I went But managed to get back on the trail before anything major happened. any way I handed off to IAB , and Was done ! and felt great about it !

I have to admit it was a really great time, even with all the suffering :D

My last lap I got to stop and drink a beer with my team mates. I ended up waiting just over 30 minutes until the clock hit noon, just so we could say we raced a solid 24 hrs. That beer never tasted so good.

All three teams helped each other out and I thought that just shows how great all the guys and gals are! Thanks to all of you for making it such a great time.

Westy: I can't even express in words.....................You are truly a god in my eyes, and a super friendly one at that http://www.cripplefight.com/smileys/bowdown.gif

I decided to stay home today and "recover." :) WOO HOO, movies and beer!! :D

Man, what a fun weekend. We all did so well. And considering how difficult the course was, 11th out of 20 for team 4MAAB is pretty damn respectable for our first Adrenalin race! I'm very proud of my monkey teammates. Doug, Splat, JT, and Mark, well done guys!! And needless to say, sharing the experience with the Jackalopes and Ass Balances made it all the more special. :)

As far as my own personal experience goes, I did much better than I though I would. I learned that my MTB weakness is most definitley with climbing. I was getting passed left and right on the climbs. On the technical singletracks and downhills though, I more than made up for it, passing rider after rider. I am most proud of my last lap. Prior to running that lap, I was exhausted, I had abdominal cramping, I had barely eaten, and I didn't sleep since Friday. But when it came my turn to run that 10:00 lap Sunday, I sucked it up and wheeled off my best of the four laps. Man, what a great feeling to come out of the woods to have all those people cheering. Awesome, awesome stuff.

And yeah, I am not allowed to complain about being tired after watching Westy in action. Impressive to say the least! Congratulations, Westy!!!

Time to start training for Dalton '05.

First off - to my teamates: You guys Rock!! Thanks for all the support and encouragement!!

Splat, you kicked ass even with 30 pounds of light batteries strapped to your back you pulled out some awesome laps!!

IAB - you are the man for sucking it up and going out on your fourth lap when I could tell you were hurting - in fact I've never seen you look that tired before - but you Kicked Major Ass on that last lap!!!

JT - Way to rock that Bullit through that muddy course with that killer climb! Mad props to you - and thanks for letting me use that Phil's lube on my drivetrain. That stuff rocks. I gotta get me some. JT - you are the guy who really inspired me to get into this sport and I'm really grateful to you for that.

Douglas - 5 Laps - all at amazing times too! You are incredible! I really appreciate you stepping up to to do that 5th lap for our team. And thanks again for all the encouragement and help with my lights and stuff!

A special thanks to jdcamb and justbill for all of their tremendous support and encouragement. Bill - it was so great of you to bring your camper and all the food and to cook for us, encourage us, keep us laughing and smiling and keep us fueled up for our laps!! Jim - thanks to you as well for helping with our bikes and for the words of encouragment! It is important to note that no-one on our team had any mechanicals for the entire race! You two guys were certainly just as much a part of our team as anyone.

To the other two Monkey teams - it was great to get to meet all of you and I look forward to meeting you all and riding with you all again real soon. Plattekill and Monkeyfest here we come!!

And to Westy - You are the Man!!! Truly Awesome and Inspiring!!

I hope I took decent photos of you!

It was an amazing weekend, of friendship, sportsmanship, riding and just enjoying life!

Can't wait for Dalton 2005!!!

Awesome Pics Splat.

Here's my take on the weekend:

Originaly written for AllezY.net

It all started on Ridemonkey.com where people started to talk about forming teams to compete in the 24 hours of Adrenaline in Dalton, Massachusett. Isa and me joined 3 friends from Rochester to create team Jackalope/AllezY team to race along 2 other Ridemonkeys teams: Team Ass balancers and Team 4 monkeys and a baboon.

The most important thing to do when we got on site was to put up the beautifull banner made by John (Echo).

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3726.jpg

Our Sister team, team Ass Balancers, did not have a banner yet so we worked with them to create a true work of art.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3738.jpg

The name Ass Balancers come from the Monkeyfest last year when Ralph (Instigator) made the mistake to show off to everyone that he was able to balance himself sitting on a Teeter Tooter with 1 beer in 1 hand and food in the other. He got stuck with this custom title on RM ever since.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3749.jpg

We had so much fun doing this last minute banner.

Here's Team Ass Balancers: Bob (Grease Monkey), Mike (Ghostrider), Ralph (Instigator), Matt (Stuntmatty) , Teresa (Treesaw) and their volunteer Teresa's sister.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3753.jpg

Team Jackalope/AllezY: Deyv, Isa, John (Echo), Earl, Mike (Tweek) and Teresa's other twin sister Heather.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_0176.jpg

and finally Team 4 monkeys and a baboon: Justbill(Volunteer), Mark (MMcG), Douglas, JT, Splat and his wife and Phil (Baboon)

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_0177.jpg

As always Teresa cooked enough food for a army but who are we to complain!

bikes, bikes, bikes everywhere

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3732.jpg

Friday night after a very enjoyable pre-ride we hung out at basecamp for a relax evening , we knew that saturday evening would not be like that at all.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3760.jpg

Our campsite was very welcoming with the many Tiki Lanterns setup everwhere

Matt arriving to the transition area to pick up his bike

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3767.jpg

The starters of each team had to do a short run (lemans start) in order to spread out the field. Earl passed the under/over bridge in the first pack of riders

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3768.jpg

The course was very fun. It started with a beautifull singletrack in the lush forest. That singletrack became more and more technical and with a slight uphill it was draining our batteries fast. Then we got to the start of a mile long fireroad climb that seemed to never end. Checkpoint #1 marked the end of the fireroad climb and the begining of some more challenging singletrack again with a sligh uphill. Thanks to Newton, everything that goes up most come down, a long fast and rocky downhill satisfied even the most experienced dhers among us. In that second part many mud sections and rock gardens were giving big time advantage to riders that could clear them. Just before Checkpoint #2 , the demoralizator (as douglas nicknamed it) was there to get rid of any energy that some of us might still have. After some water, gatorade or shot at the checkpoint it was all fun and games but riders that were too tired to concentrate on the sketcky downhills paid the price.

Laps were generally between 50 minutes and 1h20 depending on riders and lighting conditions.

At first we found the course very difficult but every time we rode it we just wanted more. In between laps we could not stop talking about how we cleared the mud fest with the logs, flew off the little rock drop toward the end, slid on that slippery bridge, climbed the fireroad like a goat on speed etc..... at the end we knew every little rock by it's middle name.

Ghostider, Splat and Me waiting in the transition area for our lap.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3770.jpg

Earl got a flat just towards the end of the course. He ran to the transition area and only lost a couple of seconds.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3771.jpg

After a couple of laps fatigue showed up but nothing we could not handled

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3772.jpg

Everytime we tought we were too tired to get back on the bike we found some energy god knows where and suprised ourselves again and again.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3773.jpg

The night laps were of course the hardest but it was so much fun to ride in the darkness with only the sound of our tires rolling on the soft and humid ground. That and the sound of you crashing in the rocks because you lights went dead *cough* *cough* Grease Monkey *cough* :D

Ghostrider (Echo's Brother) flew from California to come and compete with us. Also their parent came to cheer them and help everyone out.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3776.jpg

Isa had a tough position in the Team, she had to do 2 night laps and leave to do the last lap of the day when everyone were finished and drinking beer.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3775.jpg

Here's Echo takling the turns before going under the bridge.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3777.jpg

Everyone did really great and we were a great 3 teams. I was suprised by everyone performances Good job Gang!

Here's Isa completing our 20th lap just little bit after 24 hours of riding

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_3780.jpg

Our results can be found here (http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/bike/24hours.xls)

Ridemonkey might be a virtual community but nothing felt more real than 20 people meeting together to race, have fun and most importantly become good friends.

http://www.allezy.net/users/deyv/24hrsdalton/IMG_0186.jpg

It was great to race and hang out with all the knowed and new monkeys. See you at Monkeyfest

Wow. What a weekend. I'm very glad to do my first 24-hour race with a great group of monkeys. The comradarie made the more hellish parts of it bearable. I don't have any pics to show, so I'll just give my quick impressions of the weekend (I usually don't do impressions. )

Westy -- what more can I say in this thread? A nice guy who's fast and an iron man in his first solo. Truly an inspiration.
My teammates Deyv and Squirrel showed that I will never catch them, so I'll give up trying now. :D
Douglas can back up the smack with his laps.
Stuntmatty, out of his element, put in impressive times. (He stopped for about 10-15 min. on his 2nd lap to help an injured rider, folks. What a nice Thnikkaman.)
IAB and Greasey Monkey showed what it takes to go for 24 hours -- IAB felt like hurling his Clif Bars™ on his last night lap, and Greasey felt "absolutely terrible" before his final lap. Both went out and kicked ass anyway. :thumb:
JollyTime -- Well, who's to say you can't do a 24 on a Bullit? :D
JustBill -- Thanks for the leftovers and especially the extra heater to keep our teammates warm while waiting for the night laps.
TreeSaw -- Good job on your first major race (maybe even 1st race?), just remember to hydrate better next time, sweetie. ;)
Ghostrider -- You tha man for coming across the country to race with us. Wish I could hang and ride with you more.
MMcG -- Nice to finally meet you. See you again at Monkeyfest II.
Splat -- Nice job on the pics, and when riding, like in life... never look back. :p
Isa -- Even though I knew you'd do well, you still impressed the hell outta me.
Instigator -- We need to talk about your drinking problem, bro. At least we waited until our laps were over to pop one open.
Echo -- Learn to carry a pump with you, bish!!

Edit: added bullets

I did NOT want to go out for the final lap because I felt terrible, but I insisted on being the third rider of our group so I sucked it up. Like I told Mark, sometimes the mind has to carry the body, and that's what happened my final lap. :)

What a weekend! So much to say I don't know where to start. But since it hurts my left hand to type I will keep it short.

After a very long drive of battling construction and traffic jams I made it to Dalton much later than I originally wanted. After setting up camp I only had a little while to introduce myself and hang out with the rest of the :monkey:'s before going to bed. Of course they did not disapoint, everyone was very cool and a beer was offered to me by IRB within minutes. :thumb:

I also go to meet some other cool people over in the Solo camping area. My two neighbors were also riding solo with minimal support. One guy Matt was just really doing his first ride in months after crashing on a broken beer bottle that had mangled his forearm pretty bad. He thought that after all the surgery and physical therapy the race would not seem that hard. My other neighbor, Mossimo, was a very funny outspoken dude from Italy. He had me laughing all the time with his thoughts on everything.

Eventually the race started, I was really busy getting ready and had little time to feel nervous. I hate running, especially in stupid bike shoes so I just went at a comfortable gallup until I reached the bike. Once On the bike I tried to go at a nice slow pace but the exitement of it all made it hard. I was going faster than I wanted but it was fun so I did not care.

The first lap was fun, I felt good and cranked up the climb, on the downhill I tried to sit back and watch others to find the best line. My second lap I decided to put the hammer down while I still felt good and managed to turn out a pretty fast lap. I think I had some other laps like that but it was impossible to tell because after the first two I always had to stop at my camp to eat or work on the bike.

Things went great for all the daylight laps, I felt great and was having fun. The first night lap thing changed a bit. My legs still felt good and I could take the climbs with no problems but fatigue was setting in. It was getting harder to focus on the trail and my reflexes were slowing down. On the wide smooth dry downhill near the end, for no good reason I suddenly found myself without a bike underneath me. The resulting crash left me with my left hand hurting like mad, the knuckle on my left pinky is swollen and a light shade of purple. It has not gotten any better so I will be going to the doctors after work today.

Anyway after the crash I realized I needed to take it easy on the downhills and finish in one piece. Things went well for a while until about 3:00 AM. It seemed like out of nowhere it got cold, really cold. After I finished my lap I put on a bunch of clothes but was still shivering. I Climbed into my sleeping bag for a while and still could not warm up. I eventually started my car and took a nap with the heat on. I finally warmed up enough just as the sun came up. I walked over to the start finish area and got myself a cup of hot chocolate, I have to say that was the best cup of hot chocolate EVER.

On the way back to my campsite I checked the standings and was extremely surprised to find out that I was in first place. This gave me a big shot of motivation and I hopped back on the bike and started grinding out laps again. Yada yada yada I rode around in circles for 7 more hours and ended up in second place.

It turns out I was never actually in first place though. The timing booth had screwed up and forgot to count the winners second lap. They went back through the check station records and confirmed the mistake. The race organizers pulled me and the other podium finishers into the office and apoligized for a good half hour, they were concerned that we would protest the results because seeing the incorrect standings may have changed our strategies. I told them it did not bother me, Chris, the winner was turning out much faster and consistant lap times than I was, he would have beat me no matter what, not to mention the fact that I did not even check the standings until 16 hours into the race. The third place guy seemed pretty upset, but I don't know why because he would have still been third if they pulled one of Chris's laps.

Anyway I am extremely gratefull for all the support the other monkeys gave me. There were so many times when I wanted to quit but then I would hear someone yell "GO WESTY" and I would feel so much better and want to keep going. On my second to last lap I almost dropped out, but then I went through the over under and everyone was there yelling and screaming, it helped so much that not only did I finish that lap but decided to continue past 11:00 and do another lap for no good reason.

And special thanks go to JDCamb. He helped me out with my bike a bunch of times, helped me pack my stuff and scrounged up some Endurolite pills for me when I ran out. And of course thanks to Echo for the Endurolites.

The only thing that sucked about the weekend is that I did not have more time to hang out and I never got to ride with anybody. Although I did see Deyv pass me doing mach 3 down one of sketchy rock sections.

One thing that tweek mention a little on was stuntmatty.

I want to point out that he rode all 4 laps on a lenzsport DH brawler (check pic). although it was built up a light 29 pounds, it only had a 34 tooth front ring and a 12-32 8speed cassette on back. The swingarm pivots around the BB and that makes the bike bob like crazy when pedaling. Most important to me is he did all his riding on platform pedals

Matty you are an animal for sure. Westy is still the king though ;)

Nope, wasn't me. The guy who pulled the 51 only did one lap. But hey, one lap at 51 was worth it. We were short a team member and needed someone to get us into the 5 person 200+ catagory.

My best, unfortunately, was 1:06.

I left the bottle of Tequila up there, so if I owe someone a bottle let me know.

My 2nd year up. Toni you would dig this one, you have a spot on my team next year if you want it. My wife is from Dalton, so we go up and visit family. Her uncle (62yrs young) bikes and he put the team together.

Can't really compare it to anything around here. It is all that good muddy loam with slick roots and rocks. Up for 4.2 miles and then back down. Might be slightly comparable to the Kerrville track.

We never made an announcement but were asking around for quite a while. We had this guy who said he would do a lap if we needed it already lined up, so when worse came to worse we just went with it. It worked out ok, had we had a 5th we might could have done a little better. The course was wearing on us and a couple guys got a little injured so they sat out part of the night. We survived and were very happy with the finish.

Our last rider went out on his last lap trailing 3rd by 39sec, by the time they finished he had put 5 minutes into the 3rd place team!! What a strong ride!! 1:04 starting at about 11:30am.

So, I'm finally back in California, and I figure I should capture my thoughts. In short, what a great weekend! I jumped at the opportunity to join in on the action because my crystal ball predicted putting that many cool people in one place for a bike race couldn't help but be a damn good time. It was a marathon weekend for me, not even counting the bike riding, and now I'm back at work, suffering from severe post-vacation depression. I was looking forward to this trip for a long time, and it did not disappoint.

I flew out Thursday night on a red eye out of LAX, and as usual for me, didn't get a moment of sleep. I met up with TreeSaw, Squirrel, Echo, Tweek, Deyv and Isabelle, and TreeSaw's twin sisters for the big caravan to Dalton. By the time we got out there and got camp set up, I was ready to pass out. I did so, but the minute I fell asleep, I was informed it was time for the pre-ride. I dragged my butt out of bed and got my bike together and joined the group for a slow tour of the course. I was a bit worried coming in to the weekend about how the course would be, since the east coast riding is so different from what I've been riding out here. I was happy to find it pretty dry and fast, the climbs were no big deal, just a little mud, and a whole load of fun to ride. No problem. As long as it didn't rain or something. After the pre-ride, I had some dinner and went straight to bed. Too bad about the red eye, I missed out on some prime socializing - I really wanted some time to talk to Westy and Chris01 about some non-biking items, but oh well. There's always ridemonkey.

So, I wake up in the middle of the night Friday to a strange pattering sound on my tent. Could that be RAIN?? Oh crap, hope it doesn't last. No luck, it rained all night and most of the morning. I was lying warm and dry in my tent, wondering what the course would be like now....my plan was to go all out on the first lap, and try to set a good time, then enjoy the rest of the laps at a more reasonable pace. The course conditions killed that strategy, since I gave it my all and set about the same time as the pre-ride the day before. That goes to show how wet, muddy, difficult and technical the course had become, and I was forced to use some of the east coast skills I forgot I even had. Anyway, props out to Deyv, Squirrel, Doug and Westy for setting fast times in those conditions. It was no simple feat. The course got faster as the hours went on, but my legs got slower, so it was a lost cause. The remainder of my laps were an absolute blast, especially the night laps, and I was having a really good time out on the course, getting muddy for a change, and doing something so different to the same-old out here.

It was great to race with my good friends Squirrel, TreeSaw and Tweek, great to race with my cool brother Echo, great to finally meet Deyv and Isabelle after drooling on their adventures for so long, great to get to know Instigator even better, great to finally meet Stuntmatty and Greasey Monkey, great to meet Westy, and great to meet all of the Monkey/Baboon team. It was also cool that my parents made it out for the weekend. There just wasn't enough time to spend on getting to know everybody, and that's my biggest regret.

Another regret is that we didn't keep a close look at the standings - if I'm reading them right, it looks like if I had been riding instead of drinking beers with Instigator, we may have been able to give Monkey/Baboon a little scare. Anyways, good job everybody, let's get another one going.

Oh, and the best suggestion I heard over the weekend...Monkeyfest West, in BEND!!!

Meanwhile, at least I'll be in Hawaii next week to drown my sorrows and reminisce about a fantastic weekend, all thanks to ridemonkey.com.

I was going to take a super leisurely lap (I didnt think about the teams in 13th/14th/etc) but I wanted to catch Isa.....it took me 7 1/2 miles to do so(pipe line climb)!!

and come to finf out the team that was in 13th, ended up in 12th only 18 minutes behind us!!

I hated that little climb. It wouldn't have been so bad without all the rocks on the trail. (edit: we called that climb "The Demoralizer" :D )

I am assuming the yellow dot at 7.12 mile mark is checkpoint 2 after the pipeline climb.

Greasey Monkey - It was fun stinking up your tent :p

Ghostrider - It was a blast, glad you could make it.

Deyv and Isa - Always great to see you guys and rage trails together. Maybe next year I'll actually be able to keep up with BOTH of you speed demons.

Earl - I'm still trying to figure out which part of the campsite you cut thru during the Lemans start to beat me to the bikes  :p

Tweek - I swear I didn't touch your bike.

Echo - Good times as always. Nice one hander on the over/under btw.

4MAAB - It was a pleasure meeting you all.

Westy = respect. Along with the rest of the solo riders.

Funniest thing to happen to me during the race was during my night lap. I was pinning it on the DH section when a speed tear removed my contact lense from my eye. What challenge it was getting back.

Did anyone else see the dude riding the Cannondale prototype bike? I rode behind the guy for a while and realized I had never seen the bike before. He said he worked for Cannondale and was testing a prototype. Wish I could have gotten a pick of it. Kind of looked like a mix between a jeckel and a trek fuel.

Yes it was pretty cool too. They have licensed the VPP design and it is a totally new design for them. The guy who was cleaning didn't know anything about the bike and I didn't have my camera with me so.....jdcamb

All I know is the dude got owned on the roots at the begining of the lap, went down like 4 times.

Cannondale's New Prophet ?

http://www.singletrackworld.com/article.php?sid=1406

Nope definately not the profit. From what I saw it had a rocker activating the shock. It had to have a pivotless chainstay like a fuel or another rocker like a VPP or DW link. It was hard to see the details because it was at night but it definately was not the Prophet. Looked to be a longer travel XC alternative to the Scalpel. It seemed to bob a lot on the climb after the first stream crossing before the woods, but that could be the rider or a poorly set up shock.

I ended up hiking a bike in parts of that section (all 5 laps)

FYI: the 24 tore that 1st section up so much, they made a new longer section of trail around it

I beleive it , That tail must have move 10 feet down the hill on those off camber roots , during that race.

that section is also what made me decide to wear my Knee/Shin gaurds starting the 2nd lap.

Good times Good times - I feel bad I deleted my photos in my attachment folder though because now they are missing from this thread. It is too bad that once photos get included in a thread they can't remain there, but a RM user could/should be able to delete t hem from their attachment folder so that he or she could add to future threads without losing old photos they submitted in older threads. :(

We have been discussing that already. I'm DEFINITELY in, and we might actually have enough people for at least 2 teams. Treesaw and Squirrel were interested but she might have trouble getting time off in the school year.

I think we should have a singlespeed team.

Sweet! Let the smack talk begin. Squirrel and Treesaw are required. Tweek too. And Mtbkngrl and Gee Spot, for that matter. And Instigator. And Stuntmatty and Greasey Monkey too. Deyv and Isa if they are still on the continent are absolutely not optional. You all should just rent a pimped out tour bus.

Go back through this thread and check out the chit eating grin I had on my face the whole time. I loved it every second of it. But it would definately be nice to have more time to socialize. A 2 man team would be nice, I would go nuts waiting to ride in a larger team.

Open up your 2005 Mountain Bike Season in 24-Hour fashion with the 6th Annual 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo Relay Mountain Bike race. Scheduled for Presidents Day weekend, February 19, 2005, in Tucson, AZ.

www.epicrides.com

If we're gonna do it, we better decide quick. The field for this race sells out quick. None of this coming up with teams willy nilly like Dalton, and getting campsites together 3 weeks before the race :D

I was going through Emails last night and came across, the description that Dalton Doug sent to 4 :monkey:'s and a Baboon , befroe he posted in the smack talk threadthat it was flat and should be run with slicks

all I know was #4 was not easy . and #9 was a bit more than a Mile !

Course:
1) basically flat dirt road (1/5 mile)
2) short singletrack section w/short climb & short DH into over/under
3)back to dirt road, short climb, small dh to stream crossing, very short climb, turn at manure pile
4)short easy field climb
5)turn into singletrack, bridge over mud, then very rooty section (tough when wet)
6)more singletrack into short climb in a field
7)back into singletrack,
8)start the CLIMB!! 1st part short singletrack climb
9)pop out onto dirt road...now about 1 mile of CLIMBING! not granny
gear but maybe 3rd or 4th...took me about 17 minutes going hard
10)small section of DH on road
11)guess what, more climbing ! a tough technical singletrack climb (expect to see people walking)
12)relatively flat/semi technical singletrack
13)now for some fun ........about 1-1.5 miles of DH: rocky, sketchy sections, muddy sections, couple bridges and FAST :)
14) sharp left (still singletrack), slight uphill, then into the pipeline climb, not long but steep & rooty, can be tough being at this point you'll be tired, and then the last 50 ft is REAL steep
15)onto a dirt road, little bit of climbing
16)turn right into singletrack, pretty much DH
17) hit the over/under.........and sprint to the finish
18)pass out
