I just finnished:) making the adapters for my buddy to run 8" rotors on his tandem :D He tried the 6"er`s but they didn`t work to good check it out

I wouldn't trust them on a tandem! There's a reason teh company says not to do this.
Have your buddy pony up to the bar and buy Hope's DH4's, they are highly recomended from me, and Hope the Compnay too.

My buddy has a formula on the rear of his Santana. He has an adapter to use STI road levers with the hydraulic formula. Its a big rotor too. Mounted to a Phil Wood hub I think. Its 140 spaced rear end. Its working well for him.

you could also try aluminum heat sinks epoxied to the rotor. They would draw the heat away a bit, I do not know how much, but Al strips are cheap at Home Depot. You might give it a try...
