Reducer Headtube cups or Reducing headset????

Hello

Just ordered my Imperial frame. I am putting my fork with 1 1/8 steer tube on it. Should I use the reducing headtube cups and use my headset I have know or go buy a headset that reduces the headtube to 11/8???

I would vote for reducers because that way you can have "universal" products and not specialty stuff. Especially if you already have King (or other nice headset, which doesn't exist but some of you think does) headset. If your headset is junk, get a specialty reducer model and rock it. And my ultimate vote would be to get a Sherman with 1.5...

I wouldn't consider 1.5" reducing headsets, "specialty stuff". I think a reducing headset is a cleaner solution - fewer parts to squeak.

If you're not going to run 1.5, why not pick up a set of the Evil/E.13 reducer cups and some zero stack bearings?

And, another thing to keep in mind, the Cane Creek XXC only requires you to buy a new race and top cap to switch it from a 1 1/8" headset to 1.5". So if you do decide to go 1.5, it's an inexpesive switch, no new headset needed.

I was unaware that the cane creek headset was "convertible" and I also second the idea of the Evil reducers, especially if you want to run a tall fork.
