I'm about to put a new fork on my SS. I noticed before pulling the old fork that there was a spot where it kind of stuck while steering. I have new bearings for the headset that will go in with the new fork, but I'm thinking it may be more than that. I'm guessing the head tube probably needs to be faced to ensure the cups are seated properly.

I can't think of anything else, other than crappy bearings or uneven facing that would cause a sticky spot in the steering. Any ideas?

You might have had your headset setup too tightly. Or maybe there's a large nick in either your crown race or one of the cups. Getting your headtube faced and reamed is never a bad idea though.

I decided to put it together to see how it felt before taking it to the shop for a reaming  It must have been the bearings or, like you said, the top cap was cranked down too tight because it feels nice now. I hadn't thought about how tight the top cap was down until you posted. I was sure to tighten it just enough. Thanks. :thumb:
