Paint stripper or polish on bushings?

I'm going to strip and polish the linkage on my Iron Horse G-Spot (FSR type). Do I need to remove the bushings or can I just mask them off somewhat before applying aircraft stripper. Similarly, can I polish with the bushings in place? Basically, will the bushings get screwed if they get some, but not tons, of nasty chemicals on them. Thanks.

I wouldn't want anything touching them. Even grease and oil are bad b/c all they do is attract dirt. They are plastic. I am guessing that plastic is easier to dissolve than paint. Get those parts as far away from the rest of the bike as possible. There is a reason why when building a bike, the parts are painte dindividually before the bike is assembled.

There is also a good chance that repainting will void the warranty.
