Hey,
These are at chucksbikes dot com for $45:

Are they worth $45? I was going to buy an Avid mechanical rear disc, but, I just wondered about these. The price just makes it seem like the brakes have to be cheap pieces of trash.
I guess they're heavy, don't work well and you can't find replacement parts??? Any opinions?
But geeze - $45???
Thanks,
OD

i have a buddy who has been riding them for about a month. no issues what so ever. he's a clyde so the weight is not an issue. they don't squeek or rub. our lbs say's getting parts are not an issue so for $45 i don't see a down side. just my opinion.

Considering that a rotor or a set of pads for big name brakes is the same price, it certainly sounds like they're worth a try.

I'm not an advocate of "you get what you pay for", but in this case, if your using them for serious riding, you only have to worry about what yor willing to pay in doctor's bills. Brakes are the one thing I will pay the extra money for. I have Avid's on my Tracer and I love them.

i have these, and i think they are crap. they dont stop very well. you have to have like 4 fingers on them and squeez the crap out of them to get them to lock up. but for that price, its not too bad, just not that good either :D
