Hrm, would that linkage pivot ever bash the inside of your knee when things get a bit out of control? I really don't like having parts moving that close to my control area.

I'm still trying to figure out how I would even get on that bike....and the seat looks like it would poke a rider in dangerous places. ;) :)

The more I look at it, the more I think it's like one of the mind tricks that you always see in books or newspapers.

If you were to picture the bike without the seatstays and that linkage it looks like there is some decent standover, but the seatstays are so long it appears alot taller.

BTW, Nice rig :thumb:

That thing is awesome! Lambda ehh? Reminds me of a certain Revenge of the nerds movie. I guess thats what they come up with in the science club. :D :cool: The air intakes on the head tube make that thing hella fast, too.

I liked the Disco better...

But, you're the one riding it, so I guess what I think is worth about $0.0005 :D

Curb Hucker
05-11-2004, 09:09 PM
Some Specifics:

BB = 15.25
Standover = 30-31
Seat Height = 38
Travel - 8.5
Weight - 43.2 (i weighed it on a better scale, you might have me beat Brian)

Chainguide is an MRP Mini Me with black rollers, and a Goetz Ind Ti bashring

And about the pic with all the crap hangin from the bike, i was taking the pictures at my buddy's place, and he thought it would be funny to cover my bike in Machined BMX Chainring cutouts, it was kind of funny so i took a picture

bbmj
05-11-2004, 09:52 PM
whats the chainstay length on that bike? in the pic they look uber short, but mabye thats because of the ginormous seat stays

Curb Hucker
05-11-2004, 09:58 PM
The chainstay is 16.7 or so, its so so easy to wheelie compared to the 17in on the Disco that would extend to 18-19 when trying to wheelie or manual

MMcG
05-11-2004, 10:01 PM
Can you get a pic of that thing when sagged into it 's travel a bit.....that would really help me see how it woud ride.

Those twin top tubes remind me of old aluminum hockey stick shafts only burlier! :cool: :thumb:

Sweet bike porn though !

I rode it and managed to bang myself with it every time I got on the thing. It was jagged, man! I hope you have some secret technique or something planned to avoid getting molested by that contraption! Hellskull never did get used to it, but it sure seemed like it would be a fast bike!

Nice build, BTW! http://www.cripplefight.com/smileys/elephant.gif

I will not, im too insecure :p

Actually Luc the stays on the lambda are shorter, and the BB height is about the same, TT is 1/2in longer than the Disco, and ST is same. so the bikes are actually very close in size :eviltongu :D

And the first drop i did on the bike was a 5ft to flat to test er out, and i did bash my knee on the links, but after that, for the remaining 8hrs of riding last saturday i didnt have the slightest problem with it.

And the name is Don if you want to call me that instead of Mr. VV :rolleyes:

I can't hold back anymore, this has to be said ...

Don, don't you think you should have waited until you actually rode the Karpiel (about a DH specific bike as you can get) on an actual DH run before ditching it? You dropped that beautiful rig like a hot potato without ever getting it into it's intended element, DH trails in the mountains.

It certainly isn't going to "pedal well" for trail riding, it isn't a trial bike. IMO, that is like saying "I'm selling this new Armani suit because its hard to swim in." ok, maybe that is a stretch, but you know what I'm saying

Best of luck with the Nicolai, but stick with it and really work it over (or be worked over by it, either way) before making a judgement this time. If it's all about dropping to flat, buy an Imperial and a stack of DoubleWides and have at it.

Nick

I wish I needed a DH bike, I'd love to take that Disco on some proper DH runs. I'll bet it's smooth like glass and faster than greased owl-poop.

Yeah he really is missing out on taking the Disco where it really was intended to go. The Disco is by no means an urban type bike, it needs dirt & rocks, loves dirt & rocks and is amazing on dirt & rocks.

Nick, you didnt hold back, we talked about this 2 weeks ago, remember?

Yes I know i will miss the Karp, and am stupid for selling it, but i do like the Nicolai more, as right now, i do urban on a big bike, and this lambda pedals just like your RFX, you will see saturday at CPX if its not raining like it is right now. And I am getting an Imperial, but no doublewides

Hey mr PP;

Turn the upper links upside down, get the shorter lower links on there and stick a 6.5" x 1.5" shock on it.

You will then have one of the stiffest, strongest, urban/jump bikes around........with the coolest color scheme ever and you won't have to deal with buying or selling more bikes.

The rear end will also shorten rather than elongate like when in the long travel DH setup and pedal like a champ.........perfect!!!

Well all I can say is the Lambda is nice!

I've always wanted a Karpiel bike...Army to be specific and I almost did get one this year. When I saw my Nucleon, it was just too sexy to pass up...a little heavy, but wicked just the same.
