Can anyone recommend a chain that would work best with Truvativ Single speed cranks and a Surly Singleator in the back? And some online store where I can buy both those items (the singleator and the chain.) I can't seem to find any mention of chains in archives and jensonusa/supergo don't have ss chains.
Thanks.

You can use any 7 or 8 speed chain, you could even uyse a 9-speed chain. Look for SRAM PC-58 as a starting point and you'll be fine.

The singleator is all over Ebay, Cambria Bike Outfitters, SpeedGoat, etc... pretty available. Something NOT to get: the knock-off on eBay--it only comes with a "push down" spring, versus the surly which includes the often preferable "push up" spring in the kit (2 springs).

SRAM also makes a PC-1 for singlespeeds. It's a bit beefier than the 8 or 9 speed chains, but has the same spacing.

I highly recommend the Soulcraft Convert tensioner. No springs to worry about. Position it to hold the chain at correct tension, tighten it up, and forget about it. It's kind of pricey (~$70), but worth it.
