that's this issue, isn't it. I think most people here know I'm extremely tolerant of other people -- homosexuals, polygamists, etc -- but I was shocked to read that a 6 yo just showed up at home with such a controversial book. I think the library should let parents know when such books hit the shelves for kids that age.

I've had to explain the deal to my 4 and 10 year old daughters already. I was working on a project with lesbian couple and they noticed the two were obviously more than friends.

The four year old was nonchalant but the 10 year old stammered something like, "I like boys, well not really, I mean yes I like boys but not any one boy." The she blushed and changed the subject away from this talk of boys...

Therefore if a boy favors the pink side then he would automatically be gay and should be brought up as such.

I would say at whatever point they start to notice it. Prob a younger age than sex. I think kids have an easier time understanding love than why someone would want to stick a body part into someone else.
