is 6 the right age? Linda De Haan and Stern Nijland think so with their book King & King (http://www.tenspeed.com/catalog/all/item.php3?id=1384)You are cordially invited to join the merriest, most unexpected wedding of the year. KING & KING is a contemporary tale about finding true love and living happily ever after, sure to woo readers of any age.now, this isn't a big deal as long as i choose to have it in my tot's hands. But, what if i don't get consulted, as happened to Michael Hartsell of Wilmington, N.C., when his daughter brought it home from the school library (http://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=37643).
oh, other fun titles at the first link:
king & king & family (http://www.tenspeed.com/catalog/all/item.php3?id=1688) (a sequel i presume)
the boy who cried "fabulous" (http://www.tenspeed.com/catalog/all/item.php3?id=1686), ages 4 - 7 (ok, i laughed at the title)
the pickle patch bathtub (http://www.tenspeed.com/catalog/all/item.php3?id=1691)

that's this issue, isn't it. I think most people here know I'm extremely tolerant of other people -- homosexuals, polygamists, etc -- but I was shocked to read that a 6 yo just showed up at home with such a controversial book. I think the library should let parents know when such books hit the shelves for kids that age.

I liked Chef's answer on an old South Park the other night when asked when schools should teach about sex
Chef: 17
other: but isn't that too young?....
Chef: 17
others: but what if they're not ready at 17?....
Chef: 17
....granted personally I think parents should teach about it much earlier. I didn't need to know much more at 17.

Stop with the reason an logic.
I've had to explain the deal to my 4 and 10 year old daughters already. I was working on a project with lesbian couple and they noticed the two were obviously more than friends.
The four year old was nonchalant but the 10 year old stammered something like, "I like boys, well not really, I mean yes I like boys but not any one boy." The she blushed and changed the subject away from this talk of boys...
:D
She has a crush on a kid in her class named Manuel. I am tempted to stalk him and scare the hell out of him. Then it was explained to me that it may be illegal to do that. So I cleaned my shotgun and muttered to myself for a while.

Every child should be birthed onto a 2 sided blanket... 1 is pink and 1 is blue. Which ever side he/she favors should determine their mental sex...
Therefore if a boy favors the pink side then he would automatically be gay and should be brought up as such.
This is the solution to all these problems, you guys with me?

I would say at whatever point they start to notice it. Prob a younger age than sex. I think kids have an easier time understanding love than why someone would want to stick a body part into someone else.
