Ok Geeks help me

My computer keeps crashing / locks up ,and I have to restart it ,I asked my geek Brother inlaw and he does not know why ,I just replaced the power supply cause my othe one die .This PC is 3 years old ,it has a first gen. P4 1.0 Gig and the old school intel 845 board ,We checked out the Hard drive and it works ok ,how can I check the mother board to see if it has issues ,or should I just build a new one ,cause they die about 3 years ..............................

like when in the boot sequence (if that's when) does it lock up and die?

do you get any error tones?

have you tried reloading the OS?

Have you tried replacing the CMOS battery (little watch sized battery in your computer)?

I have not done that ,but here is some more info ,it`s a 845 MB with the first Gen P4 ,even sitting idle it locks up when not even being used ,I think I`ll just build a new one caus ethis one is 3 years old and I have been told the last about that long :dead: :dead: :dead: ,thanks for the help
