Right before the election Osama Bin Laden was miraculously captured or proven killed; perhaps by our Pakistani "friends"?....................

Yea, I'm guessing that since we haven't heard anything about Saddam, He'll probably go on trial sometime in august. those two things together have a lot of influence on voters...
I think that the best thing that could possibly happen with Bin Laden is that He's already dead and there's no way of proving it.

Huh? Are you talking about the hostages that were kept for 400+ days? The ones that Reagan traded for weapons... the whole Iran-Contra scandal?

That would be GREAT news
Yep, great news.
Wait.... what is Osama contact Rev. Jackson and said he'd surrender only if Kerry was elected President...
My guess is that Osama would much rather Kerry in office than Bush. Don't you think?

My guess is that if Osama is still around it doesn't really matter to him who's in office.

Close But wrong!!!!!!
The hostages were freed on Reagan Inuguartion Day, they held just long enough so carter would have the disgrace of having the hostage held and be able to get they free.
Now Olie North Sole weapons to Iran for $$$ to give to the "freedom fighters' in central america.

I think also Oliver North sold weapons to Iran in return for the freeing of Americans held by Iranian backed groups in Lebanon which is where the original poster got confused. In the 80's the Western hostages held in Lebanon was a big story and a number of them were held for years. Google "Terry Waite" if interested.

Doubt it. Bush may have policies that are "tougher on terrorist" but he is also widely hated in the Muslim world. Osoma probalby sees Bush more as a great recruiting tool than a direct threat.
Newz update (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&e=4&u=/nm/20040313/ts_nm/afghan_usa_operation_dc) . US steps up campain against Osama, I guess it was just not important enough before:rolleyes: . In othe words not close enough to the elections.

You are making the assumption that Bin Laden would rather have an escalation of the terrorist 'war' than to achieve his stated aims of removing US troops from the middle east. Partisanism (is there such a word) is not restricted to the conservatives eh?
I think (and hope) that you're wrong and that N8 is right. (I never thought I'd say that..)
However I do think that a less confrontational US foreign policy is the only way to reduce the terrorist threat.
