Wanted to get some begginer tips on racing my MTB this year. I've always wanted to try a few but a broken scapula and my heart surgery last year prevented that. I've been riding now for about 3 years. They have a begginner advanced level at some of the races around here which is anywhere from 11-14 miles or so each race. A good pace for me over 12 miles is a little over 9mph. Not sure how that stacks up. Anyway, just wanted to get any basic tips for racing, diet etc. I seem to be able to keep that pace on both my hardtail and my FS. Not sure which one to race though. Trails around here are pretty fast singletrack and not real rocky or anything.

Thanks.

You definitely should hit a race!

are you looking for race day tips, or training type tips?

I woud like a little bit of both. I raced my first beginner race last year and blew it off the line. Pushed my self to hard. And it was only 5 miles:rolleyes:
