I`am getting so pissed off at my insurance prices ( health mostly ) ,and also the job market for people who work in the manufacturing/constrution ,and all of the manual labor .I`ll bet about 30-40% of the work force here in cal are illegals ,with a fake SS number ,the fricking employer does not care cause he pays them less and does not even pay all of their taxes :eek: :eek: :eek: ,I think it`s about time for Bush to pull his head out of his chenny and take care of our front yard :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: ,it`s assholes like him who have huge companys who employ people who are here illegaly ,and they get aroud with a stupid loop hole in the law written by some other burocrat (sp?) who new it was a BS Law .where the respocibilty of knowing who`s an illegal or not is the responcibilty of the employer :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: ,and of course the employer does not care cause he get`s cheap dispencable help :eek: :eek: ,I wish they would bring back the bounty for an Illegal hell I would round up so many

It is a pretty complicated issue. If US companies can't get the cheap immigrant labour they will move overseas to get cheap local labour. But they are then putting an economic burden on the rest of society through increased insurance etc. The only solution I can think of is not to live in California.

I can't speak for MexRFX but I'm guessing that the Mex part refers to Mexicans. Based on Shocktower's comment about bountys, round-ups and a desire to participate in said round-ups and California having a large Chicano population he may have felt a little pissed off about what Shocktower's post implied. I being a Chicano was initially very upset with the post but soon calmed when I realized that it was from Shocktower who I long ago realized was mainly full of crap when posting here in the political forum. Still the idea of imprisoning people based on race has been done before (Japanese internment during WWII). The idea of repeating that horror again is repulsive to me but I could see it happening again.

So put in that context I think his response was quite composed.

A REAL job is digging a ditch, pickin fruit, pounding nails, drivin trucks. An OCCUPATION is what you get after learnin what that means in college. And then when you have been tossed out into the "job" market, you realize that most likely your OCCUPATION is occupying a windowless cubicle about 6x6 in size and the only contact with other humans is over the phone or online. There is no job that deserves to be dinigrated. Work, by it's very nature, is honorable. But because Americans have decided that certain work is beneath them, we have illegals doing those jobs. Clean your own pool, rake your own lawn, and maybe some of them will go home. The illegal problem is our own fault. Solving it now may just be too little, too late.

On one side you have the folks whinin about illegals and jobs lost. On the other, you have folks givin them all sorts of rights and privileges that used to be birthrights. Our wishy-washy manner of dealin with the problem is half the problem at least.
