alright... in the market for a new seatpost. looking for something strong first, light second... and cool. is thomson the only way to go? i've got a syncros on an old ride i could use... any suggestions? thanks!

That would probably be my #2 choice.

I like the 2-bolt adjustments that both those posts have.

There are other good seatposts out there besides Thomson. Like Thomson. or a laid back Thonmson. Or you could get a silver Thomson. Or a black Thomson. There is a new Thomson too. Much lighter but I expect less strong. If it were my money I'd get a Thomson.

Seriously though, Thomson's have a two bolt true multi angle head adjustment. There are others with this feature too. Bontrager have one and they work well. I would never buy another single bolt ratcheted or notched head post because too often one spot is tilted too much one way and the next notch too much the other way.

Syncros had a good reputation in their day but they did make a bad batch or two. I had 3 break in one season. One catastrophically, the others simply cracked.

Thomson rules, but I must say that Planet X makes a nice post and it's very similar to the Thomson.
