Lieberman...something I've thought about

Now, i dont want to come off as sounding like a bigot, but what do you think would be the ramifications of having Leiberman elected president...being that he is Jewish.
Personally, I could care less about someone's faith, but what about our enemies. What about the palestinians? The entire muslim world? What would their view of the US be then? A giant Isreal?
Would it prompt more terrorist attacks against the US? Should he as a possible leader consider the fact that his run could mean the deaths of many americans and should that influence his decision to run?


Or am i totally off base here?

Like N8 said, you really don't need to worry about Lieberman becoming President :)

Still, I don't think a Jewish president will make an extremist change his mind one way or another. Sharon is getting away with whatever he wants to right now, so besides the extra benefit that the soundbite might bring (The dirty Jews even lead the Great Satan!!!) I don't think that it would make too much of a difference.

I can tell you that the Jews I know do NOT want Liberman in office because the rumor is, he'll try so hard as to not appear to favor Israel or Jews that he'll act a bit against Israel... probably more so than any other politician :rolleyes:

And I think the US should distance themselves a bit from Israel, so if he did get into office that actually might be what he'd do and might be a good thing for both the US and Israel. I could be wrong *shrugs*

IMO, you are off base. I could care less if we piss the Muslim world off. Besides, I don't see how we could piss em off anymore than we already have. What we do is show the rest of the world that it does not matter what your background, religion, etc. is. Iin America, everyone has a shot at whatever they want.

Of course, if he somehow won, it would certainly add fuel to the great Jewish controlled World conspiracist's twist on what is really going on.

Certainly the fact that he is Jewish is an obstacle to a far greater degree than Kennedy's Catholacism. Sadly we still have a few ignorant sods who think that sort of thing is bad.

Hypotheically speaking though, I wonder what the ramifications would be on foreign policy if this were to happen.

There are many that believe that having Madeline Albright as a SoS set us back years in this arena. As brilliant as she was (best part of the Clinton Administration) she had ZERO respect from many Muslim and Asian leaders.
