Hi! I'm also Sweeeedish. Live in southern sweden, pretty close to Vångabacken. :)

Hey Steen! Hope to ride with you in Vånga, when the snow has melted!

Used to have a Bullitt-Roger, is that you?

RogerH
01-23-2004, 06:13 AM
Yes! This is me!
Still have the blue Bullit, but have to sell it soon, as I have a new Balfa BB7 on order from Huckfest.

I don't know if I have met you, Daner. Your importing super, super-nice bikes, right?

(Any swedes want to buy a very nice bullit, frame, fork or other bits? except for the weels...) :)

Roger,

Yep, that's me. Bringing over the best that I can find. www.northamericanflyers.com

We didn't meet, but I was at Fiskartorpet riding my Ibis CX bike at the SingleSpeed Nationals last summer (came in dead last, but had fun on the NS section!)

RogerH

Hehe! I think I did see you! I do remember seeing some guy on a skinny bike on the ladders. Quite a contrast when everyone else was sporting heavy duty freeride rigs!

I noticed you sell Thomson products. I may need a new seatpost... Are you going to sell stuff through the website, or for dealers only?

I sure wish I could remember John Candy's line in "Splash" where he fools the guards with that "Hey baby, I have a 12" penis!"(in Swedish) porn line. :D

Daner

Roger,

Dealers only. Cykloteket has ordered a few and will be selling them both in the shop and through their catalog. Dr. Spoke has some in the shop. Others can order, everybody gets the same price.

What size Thomson post do you need? I can get anything to pretty much any shop in the country within 3 weeks, faster if I have it in stock.

RogerH
01-24-2004, 02:29 PM
I would be needing a 27.2 post. I think it's a pretty common size.
Can you tell me what the recomended price for consumers are? Or send it in a email.

narlus
01-24-2004, 02:39 PM
RogerH, do you need the thomson for your bullit? if so, i don't think a 27.2 would work. i've got a brand new 28.6 which does fit bullits if you are interested.

apologies if it is for a different frame.

RogerH
01-24-2004, 03:06 PM
narlus, Thanks for the offer! But I already have a Thomson on the old Bullit. I have a new frame on order, though. A Balfa BB7. The new post is for the Balfa.

Roger,

Suggested retail on 410mm posts is about SEK 890. Almost all shorter posts are SEK 830 (with moms in your local bike shop). Cyclecomponents has them for SEK 780, but shipping costs even things out on the longer posts, and makes the shorter ones a better deal at your local shop.

You can always cut off a longer post, but considering the intended use of your BB7 and the interrupted seat tube (and the fact that it hasn't arrived yet) you might consider a shorter one. If you really want to keep the seatpost short I've got a Masterpiece 27.2 x 240mm post that weighs only 155 grams, but it costs so much that it is really only meant for serious weight weenies. In any case I have 27.2 x 410mm in stock in both black and silver.

I'm still looking for service-oriented shops who are tired of losing sales to webshops and looking for a way to compete on price and selection. Any suggestions that you might have would be appreciated.

Ok! Thanks Daner!
Sorry for the late reply..

I will probably order the post from DrSpoke (http://www.drspoke.se) or Huckfest (http://www.huckfest.org). I guess you deal with them.

But it will have to wait until I get the frame. Not sure if I will need a standard, (Thomson) or layack(Diabolus?) post...

Hope to ride with you in Åre, this summer. Can't wait! Getting sick of the snow...
I read somewhere that you are going to bring demo bikes. Nice!

Roger.

So they look bent. If you want what I think is the world's most attractive setback post you should get one like I used on North American Flyers' demo bike #1

Very nice bike you got there!

The Jones is really beautiful. I like the riding pics on jonesbikes.com too!

If you like the pix on the website you should see the video clips. I rep for Jeff here in Sweden and I have a CD full of high-res shots with a couple of video sequences as well. Hard to tell whether he is better at designing, fabricating or riding!

hey, im going to sweden this summer and was wondering if there are any good bike shops i can rent a DH bike from. also wondering if there are any good places to ride, around stockholm.

Daner

Funny you should mention that...

I am looking into making the bikes that I am building up for dealer demo duty available for rental. If that works out I have a Cove Peeler with a 888R that might be available here in Stockholm. Not a lot of vertical right here in town but Flottsbro is building up a nice facility and there are plenty of "up and down" type trails in various forests surrounding Stockholm.

The best time and place for DH/FR in Sweden this coming summer will be July 21-27 up at Åre for the annual Åre Mountain Mayhem festival. Read more about that at www.mtbfreerider.com. The Peeler will be there and I've heard that the local shops have Kona and Scott FR bikes for rent.

RogerH

The only DH/freeride specific shop I know of is the DrSpoke bike shop (http://www.drspoke.se). They should know where to ride around Stockholm. Also, the local riders: Frost (http://www.frostnet.nu/).

Swdens best riding is found in Åre, though. I think it's rideable June-September. The mountain mayhem is the highlight, of course.

Daner
02-08-2004, 03:52 AM
Dr. Spoke does my demo builds for me and has the best selection of frames and components imported by my company (www.northamericanflyers.com). The Peeler is currently located at their shop, and two of the owners their are the principals behind Åre Mountain Mayhem as well as Nordic Ride, the first mountain bike film produced in Scandinavia. If you come to Stockholm to ride you have to drop in on Phil and the Pimp Mechanics or you will have definitely missed out!

are there any bike shops around Gothenburg?

konajonas
02-27-2004, 08:29 AM
Well there is some bike shops around gothenburg. But no shops like Dr. Spoke in stockholm. cykelspecialisten (http://www.cykelspecialisten.se) is one, they sell kona, trek, specialized, cannondale and some other. they got nice bikes at the place.
A shop that can take home a lot of stuff if you order them is Re Sport (http://www.resportgbg.com/). They order the things you want.

Also I'm from Sweden. :)

grnpainter
02-27-2004, 10:07 AM
can you rent bikes at that store?

konajonas
02-28-2004, 05:54 AM
I'm not sure about it. But I think you can rent ordinary bikes that are used. God for students that stay here for a short time.
Are you going to gothenburg? Or where do you live, do you speak swedish?
What kind of bike are you looking for?

i am going to the gothenburg area, it is closet to where i am staying. i am looking for some type of DH, freeride bike. i dont speak swedish, but my family is going and they speak it fluently

konajonas
02-29-2004, 12:15 PM
Are you going to buy a new freeride bike? Hardtail or fullsuspension and how much money?
Where do you live today? It isn't cheap to buy bikes here in Sweden. Talk to the people at "Re-Sport" they will help you find a bike. For how long time will you stay in Sweden?

If you want a complete bike immediately there is a kona stinky (2004) and a cannondale genimi 2000 (year 2002 i think) at "cykelspecialisten".

i live in MA right now, but i dont want to buy a bike, i want to rent one

konajonas
03-02-2004, 03:29 PM
In "MA".. where is that?`
Rent a DH bike? there isn't no market for it here in gothenburg. No big mountains and the weather is cold nowadays.

Sory man, if there is anything you wonder about gothenburg, just ask.

grnpainter

Massachusettes, USA

there is no where to rent a bike in gothenburg??

konajonas
04-28-2004, 04:21 PM
No, I don't think you can rent a downhill bike anywhere in Sweden, exept from Åre up in the north of sweden, about 1000 kilometers away from gothenburg.

There isn't so much downhill here in gothenburg so a hardtail is good enough I think. You can get a used hardtail for a pretty good price in a store named Re Sport here.

There is a street rider from Germany here and he is riding a kona hardtail and think it's good enough, for the moment he rides a lot of dirt and enjoy it much. He is a student from Germany, studying at Chalmers university here in GBG.

When do you get here?

grnpainter
04-29-2004, 10:37 AM
i will be there in july-august
somewhere inbetween there

as far as the DH bike renting goes, i dont really care. all i would like is to have a good hardtail, for about a week in Gothenburg.

i will be staying in a cottage in Buterud, about 30 minutes out of Gothenburg.

There isn't any Downhill or other freeride bike rent here in Gothenburg, you can only rent ordernary "ride to work" bikes...

If there is somthing, just ask...

Check out Gothenburg freeride website: gride.net (http://gride.net)
It's swedish but has pictures. Drop me a line, if you're coming to Denmark. It's not far from Sweden.

Sweden sounds like a cool place. Does it have dirt jumps?

Daner
06-27-2004, 02:44 AM
We do have dirt jumps. Not quite up to the class of Cowan's playground, but the kids are working on it. Here in Stockholm we can arrange MTB rentals. Bullit, Heckler or even this:
http://homepage.mac.com/drt/.Pictures/Photo%20Album%20Pictures/2004-06-18%2009.58.52%20-0700/Image-06C61972C14811D8.jpg

Talk to Phil (from Scotland), Dave (from England) or John (from Ireland) at Dr. Spoke. http://www.drspoke.se +46 (0)8 227 805 to arrange it.
