the cable for my rear der. has come loose from one of the guides 3 times in my last 2 rides. I can't find any consisten reason for it - the first time it happened after a good hit, second time was during a hard climb, third time was when I was just riding along catching my wind. Each time it "pops out" of the same guide.

The only thing I can think of is if it's a cable tension issue. Lately I've been adjusting my r. der (rather than paying my LBS to do it). It has been shifting well since I started doing the adjusting myself. The only thing I've noticed is that it tends to jump between the 3rd and 4th cog. Other than that, it shifts quickly and cleanly.

Any thoughts?

Here's a pic. The cable/jacket comes out of the guide leaving me with no cable tension.

Maybe....

When the suspension is under compression the loop of housing is catching the seat colloar or reflector and pulling out of the cable stop. The housing could be shorter.

The reflector is long since removed (that's and old pic that I added the arrows to), but I'll look for other things that the cable could be catching on.

For as much force as it takes me to get the cable back in the guide, that's just the type of thing that could be happening.

My Stinky delrailer cable (similar design and routing) would consistanly catch on the seat post quick-release collar after decent size hits (and accompanying suspension movement). I strapped it down to the bar.
