hi all,

My front HFX-9 with an 8" rotor emits a "beeeeee" sound everytime I pull the lever - most disconcerting going down a long 10% gradient hill along my commute route. I presume this isn't normal as the rear with a 6" rotor does not do this.
Does anyone have an idea what is causing this? Loose brake pads? The brakepads feels a bit wobbly although that's totally subjective. Or could it be due to a poor bleed? Any help would be much appreciated.

I've worked on a few bikes where the rotor dragged on the caliper adapter when the brakes were applied. It made kind of a "buzzing" sound. If this is the case, the fix would be some minimal file work on the adapter. :)

Hi Speedbump,

thanks for the suggestion. I'll check for the dragging, although the rotor doesn't seem to be touching anything it shouldn't when it's applied - that's with the bike at a stand still though.
I've also bled the brakes since my shout for help but haven't had a chance to go out for a ride yet. I'll mind to take a file with my next ride. Thanks again.

Mine do that a lot. I think its just the edges of the openings in the rotor coming in contact with the edge of the pad. Kinda like a baseball card in the spokes. I wouldn't worry about it.
